There was an article in the Globe and Mail recently about exactly this issue of so-called "teflon" products (flouropolymers of various types) and the way they are persisting and accumulating in the environment. Both Canadian and US governemtns are getting concerned about it, and are looking into regulations or controls on the stuff. This will affect not just your "teflon" toilet cleaner, but also the laminates/coatings in Gore-Tex and other waterproof/breathables, and also the DWR treatments on the outer faces of those fabrics.

agreed. I stay far away from those non-stick pans. I'm superstitious like that. I use enamel coated iron cookware.

There was an article the NY Times recently about the town Dupont manufactures Teflon in. The city water engineer has told the people there to drink the city water at their own risk. Pumping a bunch of Teflon into the water supply chain seems like a really BAAAAAD idea. It's going to come back to haunt us.

You make fun, but when the world goes frictionless from too much Teflon, and you can't even skin uphill to the top og Hood, you will cry a different tune cry.gif

Hah but how will a pile of rubble like mount hood even be standing in a frictionless world, mmmmm? The ideal angle of repose would be 0°.

I do look forward to the days when toilet paper is unnecessary though!

Now I feel better about going with the cast iron frypan instead of some non-stick thingy.

I'm just glad I no longer have to try to hide the fact that I once tried to flush my frying pan down the toilet. Now I'm part of the in crowd!
