Touray Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Anyone been up Adams Glacier recently? Whats it like right now. Must be pretty broken up and out of shape by now eh? Any info would be much appreciated thanx Touray Quote
Jake_Gano Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Haven't been up but saw it from the road on Thurs. Looked ugly. Quote
jjl Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I had a pretty good look at it from the north ridge on 8/21/04. A couple photos are attached. One is a crop of the whole thing (not the best quality, but I was taking a photo of something else), and the other is a closeup of one section (which I photographed only because it looked cool). It looked like there was a pretty deep crack at around 10,500-11,000, but I'm not sure, I kind of had my mind on other things. That crevasse is located above the "closeup" section that I photographed. -Jonathan Quote
jjl Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I guess I can only attach one photo per post. Here is the second one. -Jonathan Quote
CascadeClimber Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 It looks spicey-fun. The top crevasse was kinda sketch two months ago. Could be a good warmup for ice season. Quote
Pandora Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Could be a good warmup for ice season. UGH! Quote
John Frieh Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Could be a good warmup for ice season. UGH! Don't fight it... you know its only a matter of time... Quote
erez Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 We made an attempt at the end of July making it to within 800 feet of the summit...we could not find a way left or straight up through the last major section of ice fall and had to turn around and down climb the entire route. It's very possible we missed something huge but we looked and could not find a way...and that was more than one month ago...Just a heads up Quote
