The only thing you can tell from the WHOIS record is when the name was registered by the current lessee. This has almost nothing to do with the status of the related web site: There are plenty of long-registered domain names without related web sites, and there are domain names that have had related sites for much longer that the current lessee has had rights to the name.

 

It's kind of like saying you can tell how old a car is by the date the current owner bought it.

what i was able to find w/a whois search is the date that the site was registered and the last updated date. i knew the site was active. i was more interested in when the site came to be. a little personal sleuthing. that's all.
