I bet Wildcat and the Beehive are open. Doesn't the closure mean only certain spots -Cant remember but maybe Moon Rox or Royal Columns? Access to RC was hard since bridge was wasted last time I was there in the fall. Heard the bridge is gone now but some sort of access via a cable crossing or further upstream. Not sure though.

ROYAL COLUMNS area is OPEN. I was there this past weekend. The ranger is checking for Passes twice a day, and giving out tickets. I don't know about other areas of the Tieton but if you call the WDFW @ 509-653-2390 you can ask for specific areas. I think the closure ends may 1st.

some day this shit has got to end ...... [Mad][Mad][Mad] I remember years past (several) when you could go out to the Columns late winter/early spring, no crowd, little bit of snow still on the ground, elk still feeding on the welfare handouts, burn one, take it all in with no #$@&%'in "passes"

As for the passes, I think the pass area begins at the big campground just across from royal columns. Right before the campground there is a big turnout that is before the first "pass required" sign. I parked there several times last year and never got a ticket. The ranger even stopped by once while we were unloading the car to tell us the bridge was out and didn't say anything about us parking there. If you want to park down by the elk parts barrel and the other bridge, then I guess you'd need a pass. No guarentees, but it worked last year.

thanks for the info

We ran into a guy there last weekend who was camping by the river. In the night a bigass tree fell and blocked him in, hee hee. He flagged us down and we got out and looked at the situation, realized the tree was really heavy, said sorry and got back into our rig and drove away and went climbing.

Moral of the story: always bring a chainsaw and/or AlpineK with you when you go climbing.
