Just heard this story. Someone left there car at the smoke stack to car pool. When they came back it had been towed, they found the car and drove away without paying the !!!!!$245!!!!!!!!! towing fee. Got pulled over by cops, more details later. There is a park and ride at the east end of town.

Interesting, I've used the "empty" parking lot there around the stack many times to carpool. Of course, it's always empty at 5:30 in the morning. There is street parking for about eight cars across the street on the east side of the stack. This street parking does not seem to have any special requirements.

And $245 for a towing fee? Sheesh! I've been towed in Seattle for $100+/- a few times. $245 sounds like a racket.

Thanks for the heads-up, Dave.

One hundred dollars in gold boullion to the man who scales the Monroe smoke stack!

Plant an Americian flag on top and escape without arrest!

FAME!....FOURTUNE!....NORIETY....WOMEN! (well, maybe.)

How would you climb said stack, and keep your car...

ground up, free on the lead?

a 1/4'' bolt ladder?

free solo?

tree climber style?

grapple hook cannon?

One hunderd dollars in gold bullion to the man who plants a flag on top by the fourth of July!

Hey LG It's a 25 yr old technique as far as I go. Kinda sketchy but real fast. Please find the answer under "Advanced technique." Not sure that I would share the note wink.gif

Sir,

Get your advanced technique up to the top of that thing and I'll give you a hundred dollars.

Make sure you use an Americian flag, no subututes will be allowed.

I live a thousand miles away... the contest is open to Washington residents only.

Godspeed,

L. Granite

PS... Extra points for evading arrest and capture.

Ahh! I think we might have some daredevils!

Ladies and gentlemen,I offer up to you the oppunrity of a lifetime...

FAME!... Be the subject of the local news media!

FORTUNE!...100 american dollars! (bail and court costs might be more..)

NORIETY!...YOU were the guy...

WOMEN!... (no promises, you are on your own here...)

Rules of contest:

1.Flag on top. (American, the bigger the better..)

The flag will be deployed on a pole.

2.Flag must be treated with respect, with attention given to sound attachment to said pole.

Many veterens live in the area and you at least owe them a decient looking flag!

3.Proof accepted includes: Newspaper article or simalar media coverage.

4.Pratisapants take full responsability for their actions.

5. Any accidents or legal problems are your own fault.

6.CC. com or myself are in no way connected to your ascent or ensuing "rescue" by the unbelieveing local fire department.

7. The mere thought of getting caught should be enough to give all but the most stupid pause...you are on your own.

my suggestion?

Dress up like Captian America. At very least, a cape.

Cracked,

Young man, you are an embarassment to the fine childern's magazine that shares your name.

I believe you have more talent than that. If you must tell a stranger to f**K off, have some class

and think up a deicent comeback.

Where's the work ethic ?,

I know where mine is, sorry about yours. wave.gif

Granite, L: I'm sorry but $100 is not enough for the risks involved, A) to life or injury, and B) to getting caught. The consequences of either of these is much greater than a simple $100 prize. And so, without further adieu, screw you LG! smirk.gif
