EWolfe Posted November 29, 2003 Posted November 29, 2003 (edited) (sung to the tune of "JukeBox Hero" by Foreigner) Standing at the base, with his head hung low. Couldn't get on lead, a total no-show. Saw the man above his gear, he just watched the scene. Put his hand on the wall, and heard the leadman scream. Saw one big whipper, just blew him away! Felt a lurch in his gut, and the very next day. Bought a beat-up stick-clip at a Second Bounce store. Didn't know how to use it, but he knew for sure: That one stick-clip felt good in his hand. Didn't take long to understand: that one stick-clip puts the rope up high. Was a safety ticket, he'd never have to fly. So he started clippin', ain't never gonna stop. Gotta keep on clippin', someday he'll work it to the top. (chorus) And be a Toprope Hero! Got the rope from above! He's a Toprope Hero! Got that rope tension Love! At a crag without a name, in a heavy downpour. Thought he passed his own shadow workin' this route before. Like a trip through the past, to that day in the rain. And that one stick-clip made his whole life change. Now he's gotta keep clippin', he just can't stop! Clippin' and Takin', he's got to make the top! (chorus) And be a Toprope Hero! Got the rope from above! He's a Toprope Hero! Got that rope tension Love! Edited November 30, 2003 by MisterE Quote

E-rock Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 MisterE sings this song to you while he's giving you a belay. Quote
olyclimber Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 Just one guitar..... and then his whole life changed.... Quote
chelle Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 E-rock said: MisterE sings this song to you while he's giving you a belay. Yeah, but he set up all those nice top ropes for everyone at the Love Fest. We gotta cut him some slack and let him sing. Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 It seems like we have enough material to put a band together. What would this band be called, anyway? How about, "MisterE and the Snaffles"? Quote
Off_White Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 My friend John Wason had a whole raft of modified climber appropriate classic rock tunes he'd sing a capella while climbing. He asserted it would be easy to put together a climber's cover band for the occasional event. Wish I could remember the tunes, cuz I think he was right. This one is right up the alley. Quote
