allthumbs
So what are we going to do with this ragheaded US trooper who took it upon himself to murder his brothers-at-arms? The act of killing the man who fights alongside you is so atrocious as to merit special attention. If our Constitution did not forbid "cruel and unusual punishment," we would resurrect the exemplary British act of "hanging in irons," in which the subject is hoisted aloft in a snug-fitting network of iron straps and permitted to perish of thirst or exposure, whatever comes first. Clearly we are not going to do that, but whatever we are going to do will be too good for this fellow. jc

allthumbs
When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire-building by George Bush. He answered by saying the following: "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those who did not return." It became very quiet in the room. via Dr. Leon Flancher

allthumbs
When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains, and the women come out to cut up your remains, just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains, and go to your god like a soldier. Dr_Flash_Amazing
Oh, thank heavens! It's been far too long since we've been treated to a steaming helping of flag-waving, militaristic rhetoric!

Flash - "For men of understanding do not say that the sword is to blame for murder, nor wine for drunkenness, nor strength for outrage, nor courage for foolhardiness, but they lay the blame on those who make an improper use of the gifts which have been bestowed upon them by God, and punish them accordingly." allthumbs
Hey Dru, despite the squeaking of those who would have it otherwise, the United States of America remains the last free nation on earth. God made it so. The Bill of Rights keeps it so. And the National Rifle Association keeps that so. Kiss my ass sucka!

Trask, the liars, murderers, and thieves who've seized control of this nation wipe their ass on the Bill of Rights and make a mockery of the beliefs they supposedly hold so dear. The NRA doesn't even warrant comment. Wake up and get with the program!
