Superman Posted June 28, 2003 Posted June 28, 2003 Anyone interested in doing Fernow as a day trip Sunday 06/29? Would also be interested in Boston Pk., Clark/Luahna, or Big Snagtooth. Respond to this post or send me a PM. Quote
scot'teryx Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 Just did Clark in a day from the TH to the base of the glacier, because of time restraints, sergio and I had to turn around at 1pm. THat's a long ways in I tell ya, 10.5 miles to Boulder Pass, then up and around and onto the glacier. Beckey says it's 5 hours from Boulder Pass, and I dont know the exact mileage from there to the summit, but I owuld guess 2-3, and it's 2500 elevation gain from the pass to the summit. We could have done it, and would probably be about 16 hours RT I would guess. Damn it was hot out there today - Oh yeah, take bikes up the first 4 miles, it is damn quick in and out. We did the first 4 miles in 45 minutes up and out Quote

scot'teryx Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 Being an asshole in a wilderness area is prohibited as well Quote
slothrop Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 You've got quite a potty mouth on ya there, Scott. Two damns and and asshole... we might have to move this thread to spray! Quote

I don't understand why you fellas have to swear so much. Try the kinder, gentler approach...it works for me. Quote
nolanr Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 I don't think bikes do as much damage to trails as horses do, and they're allowed in a lot of wilderness areas. I've run into bikers in areas they're not supposed to be in, as long as they aren't running me over or running me off the trail I'm not going to hassle them. Quote
scot'teryx Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Horses are allowed on that trail up to Boulder Pass, funny thing. Bears are allowed out there too, as we got inbetween a mother and her cub. It was quite the standoff......... Quote

vegetablebelay Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Scott, I think you can do Clark a lot easier than going all the way around to the glacier and having to carry the extra gear. I've heard of other people heading to the summit from the SW off the White River trail. With bikes you may be back in time for lunch. Quote
