erez Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 HAS ANY ONE BEEN UP INGALLS THIS YEAR LATELY--LOOKING FOR CONDITIONS ON SOME OF THE RIDGE ROUTES THANKS Quote
Paul_K Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 The FS web site says three miles up the North Fork road. But of course it has said that for the last week or so. I'm planning a mid week trip as soon as the road opens. Quote
Blight Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 i was up there 2 weeks ago (sat.) and i was turned around by the notorious snow patch at about 5.5-6 miles from the road end. if you make it past this, you are usually good to go for quite a ways. i was there again last sat. and i made it past the original patch, but was thwarted a half mile up the road by a 3ft. deep, snowmobile packed patch. nobody had crossed this patch or was going to unless they were on a "machine". the snow is melting fast, but i have no idea what snow patches are beyond the one that stopped me.
