tshimko Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 I hear that people are using a double overhand knot to tie two ropes together for rappels. Anyone know of good testing results on this knot compared to other commonly used knots like the double fisherman's? Quote

specialed Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 Double overhand isn't a fishermans Lummox. Its an overhand tied with long tails, then another overhand tied with the tails. Tshimko, just skip the second overhand and tie one overhand with maybe 6-inch tails or so, that's the best knot to use for ropes of the same or similiar diameter. Its the EDK! Euro Death Knot. But its not really. Quote
fleblebleb Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 Phew, thank god we're having this discussion again. It's more than timely. Â Seriously though, there are lots of old threads about this. Quote
specialed Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 Right. Clearly we're all currently occupied with such pressing matters that we have no time at all to rediscuss this complex subject. Quote
EWolfe Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 (edited) Tshimoko: In kinder terms, if you search for "knots" under "climber's board" and swith the dateline to "all posts" there's some good threads...Peace, and welcome! Edited April 28, 2003 by MisterE Quote
