Bill_Simpkins Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 I have a bright yellow/orange Marmot Lightspeed Gortex Jacket. I have a car battery that spilled acid in places on the jacket . I already neutralized it with baking soda, and the stains won't come off. Any suggestion? Thanks. Quote
freeclimb9 Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 Live with it. The acid has bleached the fibers (at best), so washing won't change anything. At least you've got a beater jacket now. Quote
Greg_W Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 I'll get them out for you. Send me the jacket. Unfortunately, it will take several years for my patented process to work, but you'll get it back without the stains. Â Stuff it in a box and send it to: Â The Trask Home for Wayward Climbers, PO Box 2, Arlington, WA Quote
Bill_Simpkins Posted April 23, 2003 Author Posted April 23, 2003 The fibers arn't bleached. It just looks like transpareant grape juice. You can still the color underneath. Thanks though. Â I should have asked. Does anyone know of a stain remover that is safe on Gortex? Quote
ctuller Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 I just use duct tape to cover the stains on my gear. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 Maybe Nikwax makes a Gore-appropriate stain remover? Or check the Gore website; they probably have FAQ's for things like fabric care. Quote
Mr._Natural Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 you should ebay it, say it once belonged to an ex-presidential intern. bling bling you owe me a still Quote
