boy are you asking for heat with that comment, iain. Americans already think they spend WAY too much for gas at $1.59. This is one area where I tend to think that the euros have it right. At $5.00/gallon you actually have to think about whether it makes sense to drive everywhere. Why not internalize the external environmental costs of cars...?

Gas is *too* cheap here. If it was closer to europe's prices we would have to endure far less mom's soloing around town in expeditions, suburbans and other assorted gas guzzling wastes of space.
