wbk Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 I'm looking for information on bush pilots who fly into the coast range from Vancouver island (eg white mantle range, silver throne, hamathko glacier, etc). If you know pilots that fly in from the mainland I'm definitely interested in their names etc but preference is for van isle departure. Also preference for plane over heli (familiar with 49north grizzly etc). Perhaps there are ski touring forums i should check with? Thanks in advance! Quote
JasonG Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 We should go to the Franklin or Dais Glaciers ski touring next year! Quote
Stefan Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 think about the possibility of seaplanes....not just landing on icefields....lakes are a possibility for landing too...I am sure there are seaplanes in Squamish area.... Quote
bedellympian Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 (edited) The Waddington Guide by Serl lists Corilair and Island West Air as options for planes from Van Island. Corilair offers float planes while Island West Air offers float and wheeled planes. The guide was published in 2003 so I'm sure things have changed but hopefully that gives you a starting point... https://www.corilair.com/ Looks like IWA's website is no longer up so they may be closed down. I bet all those pilots know each other so I would just call up someone and tell them what you're looking for. Edited October 5, 2021 by bedellympian Quote
