Woodcutter Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 ...I saw a guy in Vertical World last year with some wooden ice tools, not the Dryice ones with the big rubber bands. I think the copany name was Helix, these tool-things had wooden pick shapes with a rubber pad at the end so you can drytool in the gym. Anyway, I can't find anything on the interweb, so if anyone has a lead on these things, I'd be happy to get some info. And before the howls of derision begin...I've trashed my fingers so I reckon trytooling may be the way to go for a while. Thanks in advance. Jake Quote
glassgowkiss Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Go climb outside. There is more to climbing ice, then hanging on wooden tools in a gym. Quote
Woodcutter Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 ...thanks for your thoghful & considered reply. I have been outside once or twice before, I was struck by how diuffernt it looked from GoogleEarth. Quote
genepires Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 probably not what you saw but this is somethign different. reminds me of a wooden woodpecker https://www.atomikclimbingholds.com/atomahawk-2 Quote
mthorman Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 The only other option I have seen is this one. It isn't a different ax but lets you use your normal tools with these picks. I haven't tried it personally but know someone who has and liked them. https://www.escapeclimbing.com/product/dry-tool-picks/ Quote
mthorman Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Found them randomly on Instagram. https://www.hexclimbing.com/ Quote
