  1. I have never had a problem with my skis in Colorado or the NE, but never really got into significant powder or massive amounts of new and fresh snow. My current skis are 125-81-111 (184cm Sportiva GT with AT tech bindings) and 132-90-119 (186cm BD Aspect with tele bindings) ... just curious how wide people end up needing to go. The AT will be used almost exclusively for backcountry touring and ski mountaineering; while the tele will be 50-50 between touring and resort, not much ski mountaineering with the tele set up. I was looking at another pair of skis with a fatter base, something like 135-105-125 (188cm Sportiva Hi5)but wasn't sure if those would even be wide enough to be "wide" or is something more like 145-117-135 (188cm BD Megawatt) going to fit the bill. I am an aggressive skier, about 6'0'' and 185lbs. Thanks Dave
  2. Looking for someone for the 23rd to the 25th ... not sure the objective as it will be weather dependent. But anything from local ice climbing to possible rainier bid to cold alpine rock. Let me know. I'll be leaving from Everett Dave
  3. Thanks for the condition pic. Much appreciated.
  4. So with relatively poor snow coverage in Nov ... at what point will the snow coverage be good enough for bigger backcountry tours (estimate based on past experiance)? What is the best outdoor addiction for this shoulder season then? I am new to the area and this will be my first rodeo in the PNW. I am comfortable skiing, rock and ice climbing, or mountaineer. I would prefer to ski, but if that's not the best choice what would be the best? Off season rock? I hear the ice is unreliable, so how about routes on Baker and Rainier? Thanks
  5. Hi Everyone, I am looking for a partner and/or information about the Ptarmigan Traverse. I know it's been done in a day, and can take as long as you want it to take. I am looking for someone to do it during one of the following times: (1) a random weekend, after Thanksgiving (obviously would be looking to go really fast) (2) the Thanksgiving weekend (a little slower pace than the random weekend) (3) between 28 Dec and 10 Jan to take as many days as required. Obviously skiiing is the only way to go, so if you're interested please let me know, or if you have any information about what the conditions might be like. I would be grealty appreciative. daveschultz125@gmail.com Thanks, Dave

  8. Sounds like an awesome trip, can't make it to AK but I would be down for some climbing while I am around mid-Nov through mid-January. daveschultz125@gmail.com

  10. Sportiva TC Pro is perfect. But expensive.
  11. Man, I was up to try this route this past weekend and will not be back until mid-November. I hope you find someone to go with you.
  12. Hi - Partner can't make it today (Sunday). Looking to climb anything anywhere ... probably I-90 corridor or Tumwater based on time and weather. 239-233-2002. Can lead 5.9.
  13. Hi, I am looking for an experienced partner for Mt Baker's Headwall or N Ridge. I was there last weekend on the CD and both routes look do-able, though pretty dicey. The ability to swing leads, improvise, and travel fast are a must. I have all my own personal and group gear. I can be there Friday around 5pm. Dave
  14. I am also new to the area, just moved to Everett, and could probably climb on Sunday. What routes were you thinking? I can lead 5.9.
  15. Hi - I'm new to the area, and know that some of the crags are on land that prohibits dogs ... I was wondering what crags DO allow dogs. Not really looking for responses of how dogs at crags suck, and they shouldn't be allowed anywhere - I understand your bitching. I'm just looking for areas where dogs are accepted and/or common. PS - of course mine is the well behaved Dalmatian ... Thanks! Dave
  16. I'm new to the area and was wondering if anyone has been up Mt Baker recently, and what the conditions might be like heading up the Coleman Deming Route, or the Coleman Headwall? I have a partner, but am looking for a third to join us. Please let me know any condition information or if you are looking to join us. Thanks Dave 239-233-2002
  17. Hi Everyone, I am new to the area (just moved to Everett) and am looking for semi-regular climbing partners. I can lead up to 5.8/5.9 and can follow 10a (probably 10b too). I have done some routes in the Liberty Bell Group, some Snow Creek Wall routes, and going after Dragontail tomorrow and N. Ridge on Stuart on Fri-Sat. I am free starting on Sunday and have until 9/5 then have commitments 9/6 through 9/21. I prefer going fast and light, and do not mind bivying on the route (my kit is lightweight enough that I can get away with it pretty easily). I prefer long alpine routes, but am willing to climb just about anything. I also am big into ski mountaineering and general mountaineering (but prefer something I can ski down at the end). I can also lead up WI3/4. I love learning new stuff, and think I would make a great partner for remote routes up to 5.10 (you need to lead the 5.10 though). Thanks, Dave 239-233-2002
  18. Looking for a partner for SW Face of Early Morning Spire, can start Sunday 9/2 and have until 9/5. I see one day for the approach, one day for the climb, one day for the retreat. I can lead up to 5.8/5.9 (able to aid through the 5.9 crux if need be). 239-233-2002. Dave
