  1. Large enough Pack

I am in the market for a expedition style bag need to be able to carry 85 liters+. Didn't know what everywhere prefers. I have been looking at the Aethon 85+, MH BMG 105, Gregory Whitney 95+. Didn't know if there were others out there that you guys like to climb with. Thanks
  2. Mountaineers

Is anyone here members of the Olympia Mountaineers? Looking to join a group to start climbing and learning the ropes and safety and wanted to know your experiences with them. Thanks Frank
  3. Leather or Plastic Boots?

I love my Nepal Evo's. Mostly summer climbing on Rainier and Hood. Never have done anything in the winter with them. But love the feel and fit. I have narrow feet and they seem to be the only boots that fit well.
  4. Boot care

I recently bought a pair of la sportiva Nepal evos and was wondering what type of care products I should use to keep these boots in top shape?
  5. Rainier Kautz Glacier

I am planning on doing the Kautz glacier route on Rainier this upcoming summer. I was wondering the best time to do this. I was going to have it guided with RMI. They have June 9th,30th July 12, Aug 2 and Aug 11 for dates. Didn't know when would be the best time to go giving me the best window to summit. Thanks Frank
  6. Rainier Kautz Glacier

Maybe I will shoot for the week of July 12th. Right in the middle and just hope for the best. Thanks
  7. Boot care

Where would I be able to pick some of that stuff at?
  8. I wish my son was old enough to go climb, but at 4 months I think I have a little while. Looks like beautiful weather up there.
  9. Boot care

Ok. I have a pair of powermatic by ASOLO full leather boots. And they have lasted for years. Just didn't know if the Nepal evos needed anything special . Thanks
  10. Looked like a good time. Awesome conditions. What an endeavor.
  11. [TR] Denali - Cassin Ridge 6/2/2012

Awesome TR. Great photos and video. Looks like a great group of guys to climb with.
  12. FS: M's La Sportiva Nepal Evo GTX sz 42.5

When did you buy the boots?
  13. Mountaineers

That is one thing I have learned about instruction is always take things with a grain of salt and an open mind some people lean way way or another. I definetly am going to cherry pick my way through some courses by different groups that way I am just well rounded and didn't learn everything by a particular group. A broad range of instruction is better than a narrow one side.
  14. Mountaineers

Thanks for all the info. The last thing I want is an unfit group of people being drug up the mountain. That is why I am hoping doing the kautZ glacier will eliminate those people.
  15. Mountaineers

I a planning on doing the kautz glacier seminar with rmi, juSt to get some first hand experience climbing. Does anyone have experience with rmi or similar group on learning mountaineering first aid? Also hoping to team up with some of you to gain some skills and knowledge
  16. Large enough Pack

Thanks for all your input on these packs. I will be looking around here this weekend since it is Mountain Fest out in Ashford hopefully they are running some good deals. Thanks Frank
  17. Large enough Pack

Ok. Yeah I just need a multipurpose pack. I am the gear hauler on my wife and two kids backpacking trip so I definetly will be using a larger pack. I have two trips lined up right now that require a larger pack. Both the Kautz glacier climb and Aconcagua. Just didn't know what people were using. Currently I have a 75 mission Black diamond and it always seems packed to the max.
  18. Adams; Hood; or Rainer in?

I would also recommend staying off hood. Couple weeks ago it was bad, with just loose rock everywhere. Wait for some snow
  19. Trip: MSH Feb. 4 2012 - winter climbing route Date: 2/5/2012 Trip Report: First time climbing MSH in the winter. Had a blast. Really icy conditions last 1000 feet to the summit. 50mph winds at the top. With gust along the way. All in all had a great winter climb and beat the summer crowds. Gear Notes: Crampons or snowshoes made for climbing. Not tubbs.
  20. I put on snowshoes just because I didn't have crampons with me. 60 people max on the mountain that day. Everything was compact ice for the most part. Conditions were perfect nice weather and low avy danger. Pretty straight forward climb for a first winter ascent on a mountain
  21. MSH Feb. 11

Looking for a snow shoe partner to go up MSH summit on Saturday Feb 11. Leaving out of the Olympia area. Email if interested. kingfranksharp@gmail.com
  22. Alpine Climbing Pants

I am looking for a good pair of alpine climbing pants to do some local peaks in such as Rainier, Adams, Baker, and Hood. All I could find on google was some ski pants. I need some 100% waterproof and not baggy. Looking to spend under $200 if possible Thanks Frank
  23. Alpine Climbing Pants
