  2. Next time going pee away from crag will be a good idea, and bringing bear spray in case they get aggressive is smart too. Wild animals getting habituated to human presence is never a good thing, so I probably won't ever do anything to give them the impression that we are friends. I dont know that putting out a big chunch of salt will stop them from bothering humans once this salt runs out. I think that going pee away from the crag and in places where they can't get to it (down the cracks in boulder fields maybee) will probably be the only good way to get them to realize that humans don't equal salt. Eric
  3. I am up for some trail making, give me call if any of you are going to be putting in some time out there. I am willing to head out saturday if anyone else is. 360-951-5302 Eric
  4. I almost stepped on largeish one (3 maybe 4 feet long)while on my way down the trail from the Duty Doom in Leavenworth today. He was not moving so we went off trail and around. Eric
  5. My wife and I just got back from a few days in Leavenworth. We visited the Pearly Gates crag once and as soon as we got there were surrounded by at least 8 Mountain Goats. My wife decided she did not want to belay me while Goats were bucking heads a few feet away. As we left the biggest one charged at us a few times and followed us 3/4 the way down the trail. Have any of you experienced this? What have you done, do they every go away? Eric edited to fix spelling
  6. Wow, that sounds serious, I look forward to giving it a try. When was the last time you were out there? Eric
  7. Has anyone been out to the North Fork Crag, at North Bend. Was looking in the Rock Climbing Washington book and it looks cool but never hear about it. Is it clean, are the bolts in good shape, hows the approach? Thanks for the info and let me know if you want to explore and find some hard stuff to climb. Eric
  8. I would love to climb Snow Creek Wall with you. Which routes were you thinking of doing? You can PM me if you are interested, I also have a rack and a brand new 9.4 rope I want to try out! Eric

  10. I am in alaska but will be down in WA at the beginning of June. If I make there in time I would climb with you. Eric
  11. I am visiting for thanksgiving, it looks nice today. If it stays nice today will it be dry enough to climb tomorrow? If Index is dripping, think exit 32 will be dry enough? Eric
  12. I am free wednesday. I just started leading trad this year and have a small rack. I have lead up to 5.8 placing gear, but i do 5.11s sport without much problem.
  13. What do you think the best area to learn and practice trad climbing in washington is. I am just starting and looking for a good learning environment. I climb sport in the high 5.11 range so I am mostly looking for climbs under 5.10. I live in western WA but don't mind traveling every once in a while.
