  1. Nice send guys! I am one of the guys that ran into you two on the approach. What kind of snow conditions did you run into? We bailed from our climb of the NBC because all we had was a thin crust that would break and leave you in knee deep powder. we figured the rest of the route would be similar and terrain in the whole area as well.
  2. Holly Hell Mr. Frieh! One thanks for the super fast reply, and two, that is a huge linkup! Thanks, I will look into it a little more.
  3. Heading over this weekend, looking for advice from those who have extensive knowledge. Plan on making a phone call to locals later, but I want a wide knowledge base. Is it worth the effort to climb Upper green sleeves and is it really WI3? Flanders area. Never been there looking for climbs in the wi2-4 range and in the book it looks like there is potential. Is it worth it and how long is the approach to lower flanders and the cirque?
  4. I am well aware of Danes blog and have done a lot of research lately. On one hand I was told its fine, and then I was told "I would not climb steep ice on them." I don't want the stress of worrying about gear failures on this trip.
  5. I am going to Bozeman to spend the weekend in Hyalite. I remembered that there was a problem with the BD Sabertooths and I never addressed this issue last year. Is it safe for me and my Fiance to climb on these crampons or should we quickly buy new ones? I use the Sabretooth Pro on Trango extreme evo. My Fiance is on the Sabretooth Clip with womens Trango s Evo. If I do need to buy new crampons, what do you recommend?
  6. It is just a natural progression of any sport. As it becomes more and more popular, companies will start to invest more money into development of better products. Soon we should have some pretty sweet splitboard gear.
  7. @JasonG- one of my buddies has the Spark RD bindings but is not to impressed with them. They dont instill confidence because they are really thin and flimsy feeling. He has yet to break them but... With that being said, he also broke down at bought an AT set up this year, so that may tell you what he really thinks.
  8. HOW THE HELL DID YOU MAKE THAT!
  9. It is the DIY kit on a LTD Fury 163 i think. Ride bindings I think are centerd already. And I wear a size 45 Spantik. I need to mess with the overall positioning though, maybe moving the binding further back along the palte that slides over the pucks.
  10. @sol- There is no rear hang. Something I need to mess with, but I am just to lazy because it is a PITA with the Voile DIY kit. @Genepires- I have used them twice, once locally and the other to climb/board Mt. Adams. They KICK ASS. They are high enough so there is no pinching. Rigid, warm, and take a crampon better than any snowboard boot. But take my advice with a grain of salt since they have only been used on two trips. You might enjoy this link http://splitboard.com/talk/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10141
  11. So I have Spantiks and would like to use them more for splitboarding. I tried them out on the carpet, but my foot hangs over by about three or so inches. Does any one use the Spantiks for this purpose and have they fixed this issue?
  12. The blue (Thin) and Yellow (thicker) Bluewater is awsome..very soft and flexible

  16. good to know. I am also paying attention to the NWAC forecasts which are a bit of a bummer at the moment.
  17. Yes sorry, it was a typing error. I am just trying to get an idea of what to expect in the coming week.
  18. Is it just a steep snow slog then take a left up hill more, once you get on the N face?
  19. Trying to decide between NBC and NEBC on Colchuck. From what I have read, NEBC seems easier with the difficulty being the cornice? Am I way off?
  20. cool, so sounds like i need to work on technique. But its funny because I do have some memorable climbs this season and they involved good sticks and the wrist flick. I guess its something to work on next year.

  22. March 28th- april3rd I have gear and transportation and passport (canada?)....need partner open to ideas
  23. Thanks Dane. (hope your enjoying your self in France)So are the titans noticeably thinner, or are all BD picks equally thick? I have not had a chance to compare them in person.
  24. When your reday to buy the Spantiks, Google them and see what price you can find. I found some for 450 and a local store did a price match. I had them in hand the same day
  25. I have the vipers, with the standard laser pick. I seem to break off a massive amount of ice, and make 3-4 swings to get them to stick even after i sharpen the picks. oone of my friends has the new Quarks and they stick with no dinner plates on 1-2 swings. I noticed his picks have a very dramaticy angle change at the front point, similar to the BD titan pick. Does this angle change make a dramatic difference on WI? What else could I try?
