  1. price drop to $450 Also, I will also throw in my soul, FWIW.
  2. This pack is bomb proof. It has a side zipper and side pouch. It also has the top back. The pack cinches down nicely for day trips, and extends for 1-2 day overnighters. I'm only selling because I bought another bag and currently have like five bags. It's a size medium, but I'm a size large and have no trouble with this bag; it fits nicely. PM with questions. Cheers!
  3. Ben, road bike would never handle that road. It has large and sharp rocks mixed with ruts and water runoff bumps. Mountain bike definitely suitable though.
  4. I have a pair of 187 Manaslus (2013/2014 model). They come with Dynafit bindings and the Speed Skins. This is THE classic ski, low weight, and super fast. They are in decent condition. Also, they are designed to be remounted due to the internal plate that Manaslu uses. By far one of the most diverse and enjoyable mountaineering skis on the market. If anyone is interested in getting a good deal on this lightweight set-up, PM me. I'm thinking $500 for the set-up. Hit me up.
  5. No pics of chimney. My photo skills suck. I totally agree on the pre-2hour without skis. Instead of sandals, however, I'd go with thongs. (Let the pic jokes stream in.)
  6. I'd kill to have those biceps.
  7. What else new is there to do on the south side of Hood, right? Unfortunately I get bored really fast, so I use momentum and tunes to keep my mind busy (and stay warm). After too many shots of Scotch and bubbly on New Year's Even the night before, I was just glad the hangover dissipated as I ascended. Anyway, after I reached the Hogsback in 1'40, I thought, hmm, let's see if I can get it under 2 hours. Unfortunately the deep, powdery snow made foot travel tedious and slow, and I missed the goal by 6 minutes. But, for the first day of 2015, I lucked out overall on weather and had a good safe climb. Although we've had fresh snow recently, the snow was difficult to ski on due to a light crust layer on top, with fresh powdery snow below, driving the skis every which way. Expect the snow to consolidate nicer though; the sun was hitting it pretty hard. The Berg is filled in. Also, the Pearly Gates are shaped more like a chimney right now and were super fun to climb: good ice and some natural steps. (hey, it beats old chute / mazama routes.) Gear notes: skis/skins, crampons, whippet, extra warm clothes for a night over if needed, my freakin' iPod.
  8. I rarely respond to or even read trip reports with near bad endings like this. First let me say that I'm glad you're ok and that things didn't turn out worse. You seem to have a spirit of adventure borne out of passion that drives you toward greater goals in your life. That said, there's something odd about your write-up. Between Canada nearly not letting you in, overhearing a supposed murder in the forest, and getting struck by a rock on mere class 4 scramble, I’m really not sure what to think of this write-up. Anyway, nice pics, but please watch out for the loose rocks, and maybe consider focusing your write-up more on the incident and less on peripheral events that just clutter the story. I'm interested to know what you learned from the incident and your advice to others and yourself.
  9. Price reduction, I'm feeling generous. $90
  10. Like-new sidewinder. I rarely use it. The Goretex is in perfect condition. [img:center]http://[/img]
  11. Not sure the jackets specific name. Size large, material down, extremely low weight. Rolls up into Nalgene size container. I've used it in temps as low as 10 degrees and stayed warm. I just have too many jackets. I will be posting an arcteryx sidewinder soon as well: practically new condition (price $100, just sold) [img:right]http://[/img]
  12. I have a several year old -20 down marmot bag that is size long. I've used it only several times. I would do $225.
  13. I'm taking these off the market for now.
  14. I have the 2012/13 Dyanafit Manaslus with Speed Skins in good condition for sale. I would also be willing to throw in the Dynafit ST bindings for an extra $250. The skis and speed skins alone cost $900 ($1,250 with bindings). I can send pics via text. If you're unfamiliar with these skis, they are the go-to ski for back country skiing, expedition skiing, etc. I've even raced in them because they are so light. A big advantage of these skis is the pre-drilled center plate which allows for more, steadier re-mounts, and they have only been mounted once.
  15. By chance was anyone climbing the Pearly Gates? If so, what condition were they in?
  16. Yesican, So-called narcissistic douchery pales in comparison to enigmatic, senseless diatribes like yours. But correct me if I am misinterpreting. Either clearly explain the intent and meaning of this seemingly unjustified statement, or stop spamming and thereby insulting the intent of this community of well-intentioned climbers.
  17. I must say, the c2c time would be much harder to achieve. For me, descending has always been the challenge but also the delight when skiing. I ditched the skis at the top of palmer and transitioned to crampons. The transition sucks up time, for sure. But, I simply refuse to 'climb' that mountain without skis. No one should walk off that mountain, ever. When I carry skis to the top it takes much longer, like 2:30. The guy who set the record did it in sneakers. I'm tempted to try but apprehensive to do it sans climbing with crampons, axe, etc. His aim was to open up the realm of Trail running. My message: speed is safety, plain and simple. Ski gear: 187 dynafit manaslu, sportiva spitfire, and broken dynafit bindings, among other a acoutrements.
  18. What is your estimate of how challenging it would have been to carry skis to the top, given these conditions?
  19. Ha ha! That reference resonates with me in so many ways. Nah man, just a fun day out with fellow climbing partner, Astrov. Now I need to do some real climbing.
