  1. I've climbed there four years ago. I was trying to head into Georgia to climb Ushba but was told that two things will likely to happen. 1. you will get shot 2. you will get kidnapped then shot. this was when Russia was in conflict with Georgia so the situation might be different now. but email me with questions.
  2. Looking for experienced partners for a couple of the following routes/peaks: 1. Forbidden Peak via West Ridge or Torment -> Forbidden traverse 2. Shuksan via Price Glacier 3. Liberty Bell via SW face 4. Rainier via Emmons preferably in a day. Currently dirtbagging in Squamish but looking to get on a couple of classics in WA before heading back to Bishop, CA. Have rock/ice rack/ropes/skis/kitchen sink. Done 3 routes (Ingraham, DC/Emmons variation, Liberty Ridge) on Rainier and just did Stuart North Ridge. Two seasons in the Cordillera Blanca & Alaskan Range. Prefer partner that's comfortable simul-climbing low 5th. Email is the best way to reach me. trieu(dot)kevin(@)gmail(dot)com
  3. actually send me an email since i'm in Squamish and prefer not to use the phone. trieu.kevin@gmail.com
  4. hey it looks like we have similar experience. just did north ridge of stuart. i'm up for the objectives you just listed. will send you a text or call.
  5. i was just in Petersburg working on a troller. the Thumb did stick out! i might be flying back to Juneau for a job interview. let's see if we can put something together. i'll send you an email.
  6. ended doing the classic loop from Snow Creek and got a ride back from a friendly couple at Mountaineer creek. beautiful area. almost as good as the Sierra. them fighting words!
  7. i don't mind off-trail traveling & bushwhacking but don't want to get into 5th class stuff by myself. is there somewhat of a used path on the route i've described above? i'll be starting early and getting out late so hitchhiking might not work. i guess i can stash overnight gear at one TH and wait for the next day to hitch a ride to the other.
  8. Hi, Wanted to dayhike the Enchantment area from Snow Creek TH to Stuart Lake TH but traveling solo and can't do the car shuttle. Looking to go up Snow Creek trail to the base of Dragontail Peak but hoping to find another way back to the car. Looking at the map, has anyone gone down from Prusik Pass -> Shield Lake -> Mesa Lake -> Tokette Lake -> Tokette Creek -> then back to Snow Creek trail? Also looking for a trail partner to set up car shuttle. Done Mt. Stuart North Ridge two days ago and is taken by the beauty of the area. I usually think the Evolution Area along the JMT in the Sierra is the most beautiful of all alpine lakes but heard otherwise regarding the Enchantment basin so I have to see it for myself. Thanks a bunch. Kevin
  9. hey can i get in on this? got a good amount of experience in the mountains. climbed Rainier 3x. want to do Baker, Adam, North Sister. will do technical routes. full ice/rock rack. got skis but total beginner. c2c or whatnot. free until the 16th of June. email is best. trieu dot kevin @gmail.com
  10. anybody know of a cheap AND safe place to park a car for a month near the Seattle airport? probably not the smartest question to ask online. hopefully a trusted local can help out. i'll compensate with a few belays and endless beer for a night if i can park at your place from late June through mid July.
  11. when is your summer? i might be free until the end of August. let's talk.
  12. Looking to buy a used downsuit. I'm 5'9" 165lbs so I'm looking for a size medium. Please email me if you have one laying around and are not planning for another 8,000m peak. trieu(dot)kevin(at)gmail(dot)com Cheeers, Kevin
  13. thanks guys. got myself a pair. can't wait to get some mean alpine action in Ouray...
  14. anybody use these and can offer an opinion? primary use would be for ice. how are they for short approaches? are they so rigid that even short approaches are painful? was going get a pair of G14's for this coming ice season but found a great deal on the BD '07 models.

  16. Jared, you are a stud. A broken ankle and no whining at all during the rescue. I just got off the Ruth yesterday and is currently hanging out in Talkeetna. I got on the rope with another team to get down that scary icefall section to retreive some of our gear at the base. The post office is closed today as it is Sunday so I can't mail your stuff. I'll stay around for another day and mail the important stuff (Ipod, phone, notecards) Monday. I'll then stick around for another week or so checking out Denali NP or the Chugach. I'll probably fly into Seattle sometime before the end of May. How do you want to deal with your gear? Mailing is would cost a lot of money. It is over 50lbs. How about your food? Still want it? I think I can take it with me for additional charge on Alaska Airlines. I still cannot find an appropriate charger for my cell phone but hoping to find something once I'm in Anchorage. Will give you a call with Christine's number soon. Hope your ankle heals up quickly and Christine isn't up in your grill. Shit happens up here man. I'm glad you were in good spirits during the rescue. Best wishes, Kevin
  17. What are the people's thoughts on using a 0-degree bag for the West Ridge of Hunter? High camp will probably be below 12k'. I'll also have the Mountain Hardwear Chugach pants and Feathered Friends Icefall parka to compliment the bag. It is a Western Mountaineering Kodiak bag.
  18. Hey Daniel, I've received the Das parka and ice screws. Just as advertised. Good doing business with ya. If you ever come down to California and need a partner, give me a buzz. Email is in my profile. Climb on! Kevin
  19. Hey folks, There are three of us, two dudes and one chick coming up from Southern California to attempt Mt. Rainier via Liberty Ridge, weather permitting. We are "experienced" dirtbag climbers. Have climbed extensively in the Sierra, been up the Mexican Volcanoes and Denali. We have been up Rainier via the tourist routes (Ingraham Direct, DC-Emmons variation) a couple of times. We are looking for one or two more partners to rope up with. We are primarily trying to avoid renting a car because it costs money. Yes, this means that we are looking for peeps that can provide transportation. You'll be reimbursed, of course. Gas, beer money and possibly dinner. Our itinerary will look something like this, based on if we can find cheap flights: 5/22 pm - Arrive at Sea-Tac around 7pm. Drive to White River campground. 5/23 am - Start climb and try to get to Thumb Rock. 5/24 early am - Summit Push. Bivy somewhere if we are dead tired or go straight back down to Camp Shurman via the Emmons. 5/25 whenever - get off the mountain. 5/26 whenever - fly back to LA. Any other dirtbag climbers wanting to connect with other dirtbag climbers? Cheers, Kevin
  20. Hey Baps, Replied to your email. I'm for for heading up and try to hook up with a team. However, I'm also comfortable going with a two-man rope team. I was on the ID last winter with only my climbing partner. I also have another dude from CO who said he's interested in the climb but would like to do Liberty Ridge and go on skis. I'll need to see if he would like to do the DC or some other routes minus the skis instead. -Kevin
  21. My planned climb of Rainier didn't go too well as my partners bailed due to work. I'm kind of stuck because I've booked my flight and already requested vacation. I can't cancel because it's non-refundable. I'm supposed to fly into Seattle Friday 7/27 around 10pm and leaving on Tuesday 7/31 around 5pm. I'm up for a weekend climb or a 4 day climb. So... are there any teams heading up that weekend looking for another climber? I'm easy going and I go with the flow. The destination is not as important to me as the journey. I've attempted Rainier last year in April via the ID but turned around due to weather. I'm up for any route on the mountain. I can provide a "climbing resume" too... Four unused days is a terrible thing to waste. Climb on! Kevin Trieu.Kevin@gmail.com
