  1. Just curious as to what some more experienced trad people recommend to purchase to start building up my rack. Like what size cams, nuts and hexs to get and more common sizes, etc. I have a couple people who are going to be teaching me, but I would eventually like to have my own gear to use. I've seen sets like this , but is that a good deal? Good stuff to start off with? Thanks for you time and help guys and gals.

That'll take care of all of those slow parties ahead of you.

Those are quarks. My aztars' leashes attach to the head, while the Quarks attach midway. Just FYI. I wish I had ice screws.
  4. I'll judge if I'm qualified. I got nothing better to do.
  5. Anything still left? I'll take dips on the petzl reverso if you still have it. Also interested in what cams, quickdraws, stoppers and nuts are left.
  6. But did he spit or swallow?
  7. A couple mixed routes were done, so yes gear was placed. And hello the Kat, it was good meeting you. Sure we'll be seeing you around. -kevino
  8. Yeah. When we rappelled using our 60 m rope, we ended up about 2-3 meters off the ground. So we just pulled the rope through our ATC, and grabbed one side and jumped. Some guy we had talked to earlier said we needed a 70 m rope but its not necessary.
  9. Scenic: Red Rocks, NV Cragging: Tiger Strip Wall at Red Rocks Bouldering Ice: Mixed climbing at Alpental Humor: Enjoying the large wacos:
  10. Trip: Red Rocks, NV - Calico Basin, Black Corridor, Tiger Strip Wall, etc Date: 3/16/2007 Trip Report: On March 15, me and my three friends left from Ellensburg to Red Rocks, NV. We drove through the night and arrived around noon that friday. We meet up with our friends Matt Cook and Kat and spent the rest of the day climbing. We met some awesome people, on of whom had dreadlocks with a parrot feather braided in and some even better climbing. It was 85+ and sunny everday. We climbed at the cannibal crag, moderate mecca, kraft boulders, black corridor, tiger strip wall, panty wall, ultraman wall, sweet pain wall and some other various areas. We climbed for 4+ days, here are some various pictures as we did not bring the camera everywhere. Some bouldering at the Kraft Boulders: Scott on Rebel Without a Pause - 5.11 something: Eric on the same route: Some four-star 5.10 route: Tiger strip wall: Eric, Me and Sean at the lookout: Another great night at the campsite: It was a fantastic time and can't wait to go back! Gear Notes: The usual plus flip flops and sunscreen. Approach Notes: Look for chalk, chains and other climbers because the guidebook gives terrible descriptions.
  11. Solid place. We went out to the Cave two weeks ago and had a blast. No crowds at all.
  12. Its always slow on my computer.
  13. I agree about the lower cliffs. The rock totally changes formation from the columns and creates some great faces/routes. M&M and Powerhouse, etc.
  14. I am sad that the guy who was the Alpine trip is afraid of heights. And I'm not really sure if he has ever climbed outside.
  15. When I made my first reply to you, I actually thought you were someone else on this board with a similar avatar. After the "reading comprehension" flame on you, and your reply, I realized that you were NOT kevbone, but the damage had already been done. I couldn't very well excuse my own lack of reading comprehension (of your avatar name), now could I? So I had to offer that I am indeed a dick. As you so aptly put it, "Touche', sir." You got me on that one. Carry on! Its all good man. Life goes on.
  16. Everything looked great guys. Thanks a bunch.
  17. Touche, sir. Much like my roommate.
  18. No need to be a dick. The ice tool still sliced into his foot, did it not? Hence the bleeding?
  19. An ice tool into his foot? Wow.
  20. I must admit, I thought it said 'ninja.' I'm a little disapointed, but quite excited to use my ice tools again next winter!
  21. I could be in either j-tree or red rocks from march 17 to the 24th. We'll be in a silver honda passport. See you around. -Kevin
  22. Thanks for the input so far; one last thing I forgot to add is we would be going from March 17 till the 23rd or 24th.
  23. A couple of my friends and I are going to be road tripping south for warm weather and great climbing. We've been throwing around some various location ideas, however I thought I'd try to get some input from people who actually been to any of these places. We're mainly going to be doing sport climbing, but occasional trad and boulder to mix things up. Our possible destinations: -Moab area -Red rocks -st. george (ut) -joshua tree -maple canyon? i forget Thanks for everyone's help.
  24. This is all I could find so far. And yes, the problem is that it has a california bear on it. But nothing wrong with some home state pride.
