  1. Mine made it through the ape caves without complaint when they were 3. We're going to take them hiking and camping soon this summer. I bought the hikes for kids book.
  2. Did anyone make it?
  3. I don't know how mine do it either. They won't turn 4 for a few more days, but they do nap. They get up around 0730, and take about an hour nap every day, but they want two. We're trying to wean them, but it may not be worth it. Their bedtime is 8pm, but they're starting to not get to sleep until 9. We force them to run and play outside, and it seems to help.
  4. It's just me, but I'd be happy to participate in such a rope team. Most weekends this summer I could be available. Have gear and some experience.
  5. I am also open for the weekend, Fri - Mon, but I cannot get time off to climb during the week. I have all my own gear, and some glacier experience.
  6. Looking for a place to go camping with my wife and 2 4 year olds. I live in a Tacoma, so the closer to there the better. We'd need a nearby water source, and maybe a few peaks or something nearby that I can scramble while they are napping. Any suggestions?
  7. I've taken a class, and have summited Adams and Baker, and am interested in climbing Rainier this summer, but I've never been higher than Muir.
  8. For me, it will be that last chance to climb a volcano for a while, because I'm leaving the state soon. We've only got friday and saturday to try, and have to camp somewhere since we are coming from Tacoma. I'll do my best not to end up on the news, I'd rather live without a summit than get one. If we camp up high,I will probably end up digging either a cave or a large hole for a tent. the main reason for camping is our whole party probably can't do the whole thing in one day. with a 50% chance of bad weather, I'm starting to lean towards camping at the lodge and maybe using the sno cat.
  9. I've been reading the posts. thank you
  10. thanks for the info. how does one get a snow cat ride? how's the avy and rockfall hazard in that area?
  11. only problem with that is going 5000 vertical ft in one day and back down.
  12. going to attempt a hood climb this weekend. Where's a good place for a high camp on the south side? Anyone have any other route advice? never climbed hood before.
  13. for the $15 I was talking about the tubing area at the summit at snoqualmie. I have a forest pass and a sno park permit, jsut need a good open area with an incline.
  14. Need to find a place to take the kids sledding without paying $15 per person. Anyone have any suggestions?
  15. No i didn't. On saturday afternoon and friend from CA showed up on my doorstep and since I hadn't made any hard plans with anyone to climb, I went to Vitoria with the friends. My apologies if anyone was planning on the trip. I would be interested in going another time.
  16. How about the 31st and or 1st? I'd prefer the 31st. Meet early at marble mountain snow park. I'm hoping someone with winter and avalanche experience is interested, because I do not have much winter experience. and the more climbers the better. I'll be out hiking in snoqualmie pass on the 30th, but please call or pm if interested. I'm also open to carpooling, I have a 4wd and chains. classes

Not sure if you live in MN or WA. If MN then any of the above mentioned classes would be great. If WA, then I would highly reccomend the climbing course that I took this summer. It's at Pierce college in the Tacoma area, and probably the best deal in WA. 600$ for rainier or 400 for baker and adams, but there are a lot of classroom sessions so you really learn a lot. It's also not as time intensive as the mountaineers course.
  18. sure, weather permitting
  19. no dates set yet. Those are good for me.
  20. all that just getting to the peak? what's after that?
  21. preferably before new years. My schedule gets much busier after that.
  22. Have gear, but never climbed a volcano in the winter.
  23. Never done ice, but I'll climb a volcano with you.
  24. I'm from the Tacoma area, but wouldn't mind drive to get on Hood.
