    Creepy?

A good schtupping usually frees one from the bonds of dogma, at least for a time.
  3. You've also just described Hitler. Frankly, her not taking a firm stand on the war ealier on is the only thing that really bugs me about her. Now as for her Republican analog McCain: I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. That fucker is shifty.
  4. You think Hillary would choose Taco Time or Taco Bell? She's more of a World Wraps kind of person. Now Bill...Taco Bell Chalupa with extra baja sauce all the way.
  5. I wonder if she is hesitant to push ideas first as a result of the brutalizing fallout she got from pushing her health care reform idea? Nah. She failed last time because she tried to do an end run around Congress by creating a huge proposal without consulting them very much. She's smarter than that, now. I think she's seen as equivocating because of her various stances on Iraq. It's a bit of a political hot potato for anyone, though, so you can't really blame her for delicately trying to navigate it. As for megalomania, I haven't heard a single pundit or inside source describe her as such.

Some guys would do it with or without abductor. As long as the abduction is between two consenting adults, I'm all for it.
  7. Come on. We've already voted in a monkey. We're ready for anything.

You'd probably get more results taking it up with their parents rather than society at large. I think you just answered your own question. The fine line is within the individual observer, as it should be in a free society. Remember, your offense might be my celebration. The first two letters of the coolest avatar on the web.

    Creepy?

The inscrutible relationship between our psyche and anatomy might make such an arrangement somewhat dissappointing for the abductor.
  10. Hey, there's a guy in my hood that hangs out at the local coffee joint that looks EXACTLY like Cheney, only with slighty long hair and Burkenstocks. It's unsettling. A visitor from a parallel universe?

As for the whole "who has the right to teach" bullshit, I say this: I'd rather have a motivated, good teacher than one that doesn't give a shit. I couldn't give a damn about what they do in their personal time (save for being a pedophile or other child related criminal sickness, for obvious reasons) as long as it doesn't affect their performance as a teacher. Any other criteria is overly invasive, counterproductive towards the goal of improving our schools, and utterly ridiculous.

Ignorant white trash that live in the south. At your peril. That is precisely why those of us who did not vote for Fucking Lying Incompetent Moron were dissappointed in both elections. I think half of America fell for a cretin like Bush because we have had it so cushy since WWII that we've become intellectually, historically, and politically lazy and thus, ignorant. The Bush's of the world require no citizen sacrifice or participation from their constituents. Trust us, we'll take care of things, keep the oil, coffee, and cheap lawn care products flowing, just sit back in your barca lounger and enjoy the game. And why not? Why ruin a perfectly good Saturday afternoon worrying, or even thinking, about the massive effect our comfy, disconnected lifestyle has on everyone else and, now that climate change is finally here, on ourselves? It's a good deal, and we'll take it every time until someone comes along who really burns us in the end. Hopefully, W is that someone.

    Creepy?

Commerce and admiring the human form are probably as old as our species. It should be no surprise that the two were combined, probably many thousands of years ago, each to enhance the other. Those involved in it do so willingly. There's really nothing you can do about it other than to ignore those advertisements that offend you, and appropriately so, because what offends you may be beautiful, exciting, or hilarious to others. I personally like to admire attractive women, in or out of advertisements. I think that, rather than scrutinizing a society that allows this kind of thing, you might look inward, at your reaction to it, instead. There in lies the source of your offense. And sweet Jebus, turn your TV off! I do have a problem with billboards and overly large signs, not for their content, but for their scenic impact. Appropriate for whom? This paragraph is a contradiction. If you feel the request is inappropriate for you, ignore it and let others make their own choice. Another contradiction. Don't do this (a proscription), unless you want to, then it's OK (an acceptance). I'm left wondering what, exactly, your message is in all of this?
  15. Afghanistan: Several recent NYT articles report that the Taliban is mobilized and strong once again, in part due to support from Pakistani intelligence and military services along the border. US military involvement in Afghanistan initially met with success in toppling the Taliban, which sorely needed it, but since Iraq our support for stabilizing Afghanistan has fallen through the floor. Afghanistan is by all accounts a security mess. In short, we have failed in Afghanistan. North Korea: They tested a bomb. Enough said. We have failed in North Korea. Iran: They refuse to give up their nuclear program (although they continue to maintain that it is for peaceful purposes, a proclamation that so far no one has been able to disprove with any real evidence) and continually snub US threats. We had an opportunity to engage with Iran diplomatically during the brief warming period after 911, and failed to take it. We now have an opportunity to engage with Iran again, as suggested by the Iraqi Study Group and nearly every other expert on that region. Such a strategy is a non starter for this administration. Every one of its actions and provocations, which eerily mimmick those just prior to the disastrous invasion of Iraq, clearly indicates it wants nothing but war with Iran. Yet another total failure of policy. I, as do most observers, see nothing but failure on all three fronts. In fact, W hasn't had a single demonstrable foreign policy success to date. Not one. This should come as no surprise to anyone' Bush's presidency is merely a continuation of his already well established track record for bold failures. Perhaps FW supports what he WISHES would have been the result of those alpha male policies which play so well to his cultural disposition that assumes that violence and coercion are the most expedient ways to resolve differences, rather than the misery they've actually produced. What Al Gore might have done internationally is speculative, but at least he would most certainly have begun addressing the most grave threats to our country by now; climate change and energy independence.

If that's your thing, that's your thing.
  17. We're really no more parasitic than many other species, and we're not the first to alter the planet's fundamental workings. Methanogens may have warmed the earth to the point where photosynthesizers could evolve, which in turn produced the oxygen that killed most of their benefactors. The success of a species invariably means that previously successful species take in the shorts. We're no different. The earth is a wonderful but unforgiving place, something we are just now beginning to observe firsthand. A stable climate allowed us to finally flourish after more than 100,000 years of throwing spears, and it will be an unstable climate of our own making that will levy harsh limits on that previously unchecked success. We can all take comfort in our collective realization that, despite all the wacky religions, philosophies of entitlement, and exploitative economic systems we've managed to come up to justify our rapacious nature, we are very much just another animal here, no less a part of nature than any other. The earth will be habitable by any form of life for less than 10% of its total history. From that viewpoint, life itself is an aberration, not the norm.

What if the desired skill IS your body? I start to get nervous when people dictate what other consenting adults should or shouldn't do or think. Modeling is just one of a million ways to celebrate the human form. So is cutting your hair or wearing clothes. You've never cut your hair or worn clothes?
  19. Word: "Christian" That's funny, it's the atheists who've got the highest body count in human history. That's the most moronic statement you've ever made, which is really saying something. Stalin's body count (and we all know who you're talking about, because every one of your arguments somehow manages to wind its way back to The Boss)had little to do with his atheism and a lot to do with the same kind of hard core ideologies that you, until very recently, so admired in our present administration.
