  3. yeah i was just on panic peak and looking at that and thinking getting up there would be sweet ... there's an awesome basin with lakes adjacent to the glacier .... and it looks like clear sailing once you're outta the woods .. i might have a pic of it here ya go:
  4. MOST IMPRESSIVE!!! ... CONGRATS ON THE NEW RECORD .. you passed us on your way down somewhere between high bridge and elk lake ... very cool that it was a record run ... you totally rock man ... just the hike out from gm yesterday left us totally wasted btw .. we were told by a local climber (not a ranger) stationed on the mountain this summer that there's deep corn around the cracks on the direct and didn't advise it now; plus it's august conditions (actually the worst he's ever seen it as far as snow cover in the 50 yrs or so he's been doing research on the glacier and snow dome -- so it's incredible that we were still all able to easily get on the block direct route 7/18/09 we used the crystal pass route more pix here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/33792231@N00/sets/72157621754774194/detail/
  5. SWEEET! on all counts
  6. SWEET ... way to go!! 7 lbs of camera .. jeff where's your pix?
  7. NICE .. nice going .. nice pix ... nice tr !!
  8. last we heard .. a couple of weeks ago .. fm the ranger who was at gm .. the summit block has a big moat (fm all the sun b-4) making access to the rock difficult to impossible on all the common routes -- so most climbers were only going as far as the false summit. also the cracks were just startin to open then .. but not bad.. and the chute on the trail just b-low gm is dicey .. as the trail was obliterated .. so it's necessary to drop down on steep loose scree, cross a gully and then up again to regain the trail .. best to call the wic for most current or better yet the hoh ranger station
  9. very funny stuff (as is john's ?).. totally enjoyed .. and the name that peak video -- substantially impressed your martin route .. we're only whimpy class 2 scramblers at best but wondered at it anyway when camped nearby over jul 4th .. cool to see you did it .. way to go o .. and really nice pix!
  10. Was so looking forward to your full tr and photos -- but, can't possibly be as disappointed as you -- very sorry it didn't work out Steph -- still an amazing effort and glad you guys made it out safe. Next year!! Your images are AWESOME as always.

  14. oh btw: the ranger at onp wic said early olympus climbers faced huge washout at hoh creek just beyond oly ranger station on the hoh river trail -- causing way more difficult conditions than typical avalanche chute just b-4 glacier meadows -- trail crews are/will be working on it.
