It's true, I am pretty loyal.

Wow, I've never gotten more than 10% off for paying cash, and I've paid a lot of cash to doctors you must be a better negotiator than me. also, this

you paid $376 a month for catastrophic coverage???? I suspect I make more than you (but maybe not?), and have two dependents, and "bronze" insurance for me and my family on the WA exchange was just over $400 -- almost equivalent to the $376 you were paying but with actual coverage. My sister recently purchased insurance on the exchange and her "bronze" level policy was also cheaper (and offered more) than her bullshit "catastrophic" noncompliant policy which she elected to replace. She has two children, as well. Where did the $900 estimate come from? Let me guess, from the same insurance company that played tricks to get your non compliant (and cheap) policy canceled in the first place, right? I hope you shop around before accepting their inflated estimate. There was actually a warning from the Office of the Insurance Commissioner about this very thing. edit: having a spouse is probably more expensive than dependents, and you're older than I am, so I instead calculated what my parents would pay, and it was still barely over $600. If you're so upset by all this, why not just pay the 1% fine (or, theoretically dont' even pay it) and invest your $400 a month instead. I bet that in the long run, smartly investing your $400 and saving that money for a rainy day will be far better than the bullshit coverage you were getting (I think this is why COnsumer Reports said that junk policies were "worse" than nothing).

Your arrogance is apparent here. Now, I know you've been told over and over that this is true, but have you really thought it through? If so, I'd love to hear it. Health benefits? Sure, I'll buy it(broken bones, skulls, teeth notwithstanding). But what are these other benefits you speak of? Also, I'm sure the minimum wage worker driving the $1500 1985 Nissan held together with baling wire is quite happy that he's paying for the infrastructure improvements that allow you to ride your $3500 19lb carbon frame to work and, once again, reconfirm your HTT status at the office. Every day I ride my bike, 520 is that much less congested. You're welcome. Hell, drivers should be THRILLED to see cyclists. They should yell out the window, "Thanks!" as they pass me illegally before a round-about and brake-check me into the sidewalk. Every day I see a huge line of cars waiting on La Wa Blvd through the arboretum. I'm sure they're all glad I didn't have to squeeze my Subaru into one more spot that isn't there, as I saunter quietly down 26th, alone on my bike.

didn't Consumer Reports call FW's type of insurance policy "junk" policies -- i.e. worse than nothing?

I have never heard of a derailleur "icing up". Ever. Fixies are a fad; what isn't? Where do you ride in the winter? sometimes the entire freewheel freezes and it won't ratchet (not my photo)

I'm gonna get the final lulz when your name comes up in the death panel I'll be running. I've already sent in the application.
-
Ah, the lengths Obama's minions will go to just to make the pieces of their shattered utopia fit back together. Dude, there is no saving this turd. One of the pillars that supports it was a lie from the beginning. Of course, you're talking about having people shot--but God forbid, I call someone a liar. lol I'm a minion. Cool! Can I get a neat jumpsuit at least?

actually, that's a common misconception and oft-repeated (and oft-debunked) falsehood. it's not poor diet that is causing our problems (although it is not helping) -- When compared to European healthcare, even accounting for our increased obesity and poor diet, our healthcare system is STILL disproportionately bad. Just fixing our fatties isn't going to get us out of this.

It's just a dumb trend mostly, although some people legitimately prefer the feel of a fixed gear. Back in the day, the freehub caused a lot of controversy among a group of people who felt that the fixed gear was a more "pure" interface between human and bike. Those people never really went away, Sturmey-Archer even makes a 3-speed fixed hub to appeal to this market. In a flat city, it's not a terrible option if you have a huge beard.

Was is Blue Cross/Blue Shield that just got reprimanded for intentionally making deal-breaking changes to existing, non-compliant insurance policies so that they could force grandfathered policy holders to replace their cheap, non-compliant policy with a more expensive, compliant one? I think we should have all of the insurance company executives in this country lined up and shot, and then we can start over fresh.
