  1. So if anyone is traveling to or through Vantage, you should turn off your crappy Dave Mathews Band mp3's and tune into 88.1 fm. It's CWU's radio station and sometimes manages to play some quality music. Some choice shows are 'The House Special - Fridays 9pm-2am' (My show... all about international electronic music) 'Built From Scratch - Wednesdays 7pm-9pm' (instrumental hip-hop... no gangster rap or top 40) 'Oscillations - Tuesdays 7pm-9pm' (ambient and lounge) and The Tom and Dale Morning Show - 7am-12pm (somewhat funny morning show)
  2. lol
  3. Lyger, thank you ever so much for letting me grace you with my presence while you and your doctor friends climbed... I had ever so much fun. And cook, thanks for inviting me even though I couldn't make over the pass. Maybe next week?
  4. You can get a firewire to usb adapter for you situation and that would be cheaper than going and using a labs cpu setup... here is a website where you can get one for 'somewhat' cheap. http://www.bizrate.com/buy/products__cat_id--46002,keyword--firewire%20to%20usb.html I'd do more shopping around if I were you though. (...You may have to copy and paste that address...)
  5. Absinthe is not legal to sell in the US. It is legal, however, to import. Though I have heard that customs will take it from you if they find it... kind of a slap on the wrist thing for bringing hallucenogens into the country.
  6. Oh, I am SOOOOOOO glad that I am 'legit.' Unfortunately I am not 'legit' enough to invite freaking climbing... you guys make me quite sad. Thank god I am going tomorrow w/o you cook!

    toothlessness

Yes I have seen it and, even thought I realize it was a serious doc, I have to admit that I had a very hard time suppressing my laughter. Those people are just so silly! But You are right, I don't think Shelby was taking advantage of those people.

http://www.edelmangallery.com/adams.htm This photographer has made a killing off of ht e toothlessness of these people. Pretty good stuff.
  9. sounds good. what kind of equipment am I going to need to provide?
  10. Wow, I need to learn how to use these forum quote things better. haha
  11. I would strongly advise against printing 16"x20" images from the size of the raw files a S50 creates. The upsampling of any kind of image you are getting 500 shots of on a 250-500meg card would be terrible. I guess if you shot on the RAW setting you could get maybe about 60 images that would print 8.5"x11" or so without distorting. But I guess everything I just said only matters if you are even going to print them at a large scale. In the end... if you are going digital, go for an SLR.
  12. Hey thanks a lot, I have to work this thursday and Friday, but next week I should be able to do something... only problem is that you got a 206 number and I am here in little old Ellensburg. That may not be a big deal since I will have to go to Seattle to pick up my Jeep.
  13. So I have only been climbing a few times with my gf and her 'crew,' and I really would like to go more. Unfortunately, being a beginner, I can't really do the whole 2-day alpine type climbs they do... mainly because I don't have all the equipment needed. I have a harness and shoes, and access to ropes and cams and probably other things as needed. Basically, I just want to get all the basic skill stuff out of the way so that I can surprise her next time she decides to let me tag along. I am in good shape, and don't complain or whine... I guess I just need someone (even multiple someones) to take me under thier wing a couple of times so that I can (someday) keep up. Thanks.
  14. It all really depends on how much you are willing to spend on a camera. The pricier (sp?) models with the lith-ion batteries can last for days upon days at a time, so long as you don't forget to turn off the camera when you aren't using it. When I am out and about I enjoy taking my Nikon d100, an oldie but a goody. I took it on a 18 day bike trip and only had to recharge it once. I probably put at least 300 into it during that time. It takes 19meg images in RAW format, and plus if you drop it you are only out about $1500. But I would have to agree with Bill_Simpkins, get yourself a Holga and a $40 flash and you will be set. 120mm film is rad.
  15. Alright... So why does asprin work? Because it's white!
