    Some would disagree.
  2. Some would say that ice axes are aid!
  3. You got it. This is how it happenes in the world of spray.
  4. “Notice, this is not in spray” The Ultimate Everything thread got me thinking. Something G-spotter said. None of the pitches are 3 or 4 star. Well, wouldn’t that be an opinion? I would think so. Who gets to rate a climb with stars? The person who wrote the guide? Personally I don’t like guides that star routes. Which seems to be in every book. It seems like starred routes direct climbers to certain routes. I would prefer more of a word of mouth preference than to see 5 star routes. Which brings up the next question, what constitutes the amount of stars? I would think the rock quality, how good the pro is, and how positive the holds are would constitute a star. G-spotter thinks none of the pitches on the UE are three stars, I personally would disagree. The UE has perfect rock with great pro. Maybe the pitches are not that long but would that alone bring the number of stars down? I am currently working on a guide for a recently developed climbing area. I am taking out all the adjectives like “great climb”, “must do” or the notorious “Classic”. There will be no stars. It’s just a list of climbs from left to right, the grade, what gear you will need and how to find it.
  5. You still here? Thought you got banned.
  6. Bill, you are welcome. How was New Years at the Coe house?
  7. Wow, go Randy!
  8. Your right that would be bad. Sorry, you’re also right, I was spouting off. I was venting specifically about Beacon. I will read more carefully next time. Sorry fellow bone.
  9. I wish this was true when is comes to how the Washington Fish and Wildlife actually administrates “bird closures” at Beacon State Park. They have stated they don’t want “ANYBODY’ within 300 feet of the nest. As we point out that there is a trail that over 600,000 people walk up every year that is 200 feet from the nest, by there own rule, they should close the entire rock. When reminded of there own policy, they change the subject. I call bullshit. Close the entire rock and I would support that. Bitching gets me nowhere, but it feels good.

  21. Thanks Joseph. Jim found the "ledge shot" in an abandon pile of photos a while back. Brings back good memories.
  22. It is my experience that climbers that make statements like this one have big egos. We all climb for different reasons. Don’t forget that. You climb what calls you and I will climb what calls me. In the end, I hope you and I enjoyed the day. For that is what it is all about…..right?
  23. Ok all that might be correct. I might be a whimp climber but it was my kind of climb. Not sure about the water, only been to Squamish in summer.
  24. Pink and kevbone are both in this picture.......this was taken in 1997, Beacon.
