  1. Climb: Manning Park-Go With The Flow Date of Climb: 2/10/2005 Trip Report: The gate is open/road open - T-bar and tubing slopes open (good alternative). Nepopekum was in shape for lunatics but wasn't planned on anyway. Substantial water flow, but this one has a chance - what an aesthetic climb and neat setting. Go with the flow looked OK from knoll by blue chair (aka "Fresh Air Experiences"), as hoped. Ice was...interesting, but pretty safe all in all. Stayed on the left side to be conservative while scoping it out, which still offers WI 4. Found it unique to be forced into climbing over several bulges that required (at least for the first go) driving picks in places I like to avoid (~less than a shaft length from the convexity) - somewhat heady, amongst other reasons. Some aerated ice covering pretty good, harder ice, some localized sheet delamination, and peg-boarded in places (divets for picks & feet). Center and right would go if you really want, I'd start with the right - and of course realize it's a little funky (but what kind of standards do we hold in the maritime anyway?). Leave early. Gear Notes: Snargs, titanium screws, big bros, alpenstocks. A few more screws than normal will ease the mind. Approach Notes: Narrow log walk with poles or a two step, one dunk hop will keep you dry right at Derek Falls.
  2. Thanks, MisterE! You mean THAT's what you do instead of work? I KNOW that took some time, some mind altering, a dvd, maybe a trip to the munchie store...what a day off! Amazing what cutting photos short can dooo. Just came across one that made Haffner look HUGE!
  3. Dufus I am, dru, but no flaming in the noob forum - right, drufus? Forgot about the other Marble D'oh!@ - and just barely in BC it is. Sure does look like the Tokumm Pole, but the JoJo pic isn't nearly as attractive, especially with that guy SITTING in his swami on top rope! (p. 213) Consistently in, between the 5th and 6th bridges.... Wazzu, people were heading into Marble when I was around in mid Dec. - do you just mean the deeper parts were closed?
  4. I only get offers for free lapdances is what he meant.
  5. Had a reason to look up a pic in the current BD catalog and flipped thru again. Now I'm wondering what this climb is - doesn't fit any description in WCI2's Marble section. 'Secret', new, mis-id'ed? Caption reads: "Buhler? Buhler? (Every day is a day off for Carlos.) Playing hooky in Marble Canyon, British Columbia. [Paolo Marchesi]. Page 17. Info appreciated. I predict a posting by dru...

  15. how about a radio button to select entire available history - avoid the manual insertion and confusion for others? blakes google method is a nice resource (easy from the advanced search) - different results, of course.

  20. oh well, 'guess i'm just spreading the love to those who don't tie themselves up in the spraydom - i figure the freshie freaks deserve the news. not surprised to see two other juveniles had to post it, too. just found it when checking on the conditions at 'home' to further depress myself with what we've got going on.
  21. You're still short 4 and a half cases there, Pax --- i'll spare everyone the formality, though.

  24. Maybe we should start skiing with at least a full case. I wonder if he drove home after... http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1261997.html?menu Man peed way out of avalanche A Slovak man trapped in his car under an avalanche freed himself by drinking 60 bottles of beer and urinating on the snow to melt it. Rescue teams found Richard Kral drunk and staggering along a mountain path four days after his Audi car was buried in the Slovak Tatra mountains. He told them that after the avalanche, he had opened his car window and tried to dig his way out. But as he dug with his hands, he realised the snow would fill his car before he managed to break through. He had 60 half-litre bottles of beer in his car as he was going on holiday, and after cracking one open to think about the problem he realised he could urinate on the snow to melt it, local media reported. He said: "I was scooping the snow from above me and packing it down below the window, and then I peed on it to melt it. It was hard and now my kidneys and liver hurt. But I'm glad the beer I took on holiday turned out to be useful and I managed to get out of there." Parts of Europe have this week been hit by the heaviest snowfalls since 1941, with some places registering more than ten feet of snow in 24 hours.
  25. Climbed at Marble today -- we didn't get soaked, but Lyle got the last of the goods. Ended up TR'ing Deeping Wall and Dihedral (narrow & bulgie). Didn't hack anything off - kept it nice and intact. They could be led if you want, just didn't feel the need given the ice condition and new partner. IcyBC's got plenty of water running; 2nd tier is a joke and looked quite funny from the road - nice symmetrical zebra stripe. Upper tier is hanging in, but lots of water in zee middle, too. Synchronicity looked like one of the only maybe's we saw elsewhere (no binocs with, but looked like the initial start was down to a thread). Can provide more later.
