Ya, I think getting pinned down on the Cassin would be desperate even with the warmist of gear! I've been super happy with my DAS up north in Canada, so that got me thinking if with a baselayer, R1 hoody, 300 weight fleece pullover, shell jacket and a micopuff vest - that maybe the DAS would be a good enough option for something committing in the Alaska range? In either case I was planning on bringing some micropuff pants to go over my winter weight softshell pants.

A little early to be posting - but a couple of us were talking about doing Denali for our first trip to the Alaska range next May/June/July. Just wondering about clothing and if a DAS Parka w/ lots of layers underneath might work or if we need to go the big down parka route? Probably do the West Buttress/Rib, then base camp circuit or Cassin if were feeling strong at Altitude.

No worries, but the eVent is 100% waterproof, unlike the fabric used in the BD tents. You do need to seal up the shelter tight (door and rear vent) if your in heavy rain, but the shelter breaths so well that that typically condensation is not a problem. YMMV.

What about the Rab Summit Extreme? Its a perfect one man tent, 'fits' two people, and weighs at about what your looking for. You just have to seal it up tight for extended rain.

Great piece, I`ll see if I cant find some constructive critism over the next few days. For throwing thin ropes on rappel you could mention dasychainning them and then throwing thr daisy chain as a coil. I`ve found the weight of the dasychained rope to feed well and to work well becouse of its weight in high winds. Have not tried it with anything smaller then a 8mm cord though. Also might be about the same or shorter then the stuffsack method. Cheers

Thanks Blake, I was hoping that you would chime in with your thoughts. I think I`ll pull the trigger on these for alpine ropes. Did you find that the drycoating held up well?

Anyone useing these ropes? I`m thinking of getting them for alpine this summer and hopefully the comeing ice season in the Rockies. These will be my first double ropes (and yes I know I really should use them first for ice and then for rock but that doesnt seem likly. Also looking at the Petzl Drangonfly ropes.
