Buy lift tickets at Safeway in Idaho Springs (customer service counter) on the way up to save some $. This used to take about $15-20 off the ticket price. I'd guess it's still in effect. Some of the ski shops and other groceries have the same deal.

Careful, you're assuming that the election was truly fair and democratic. I'm not sure we can make that assumption. Jimmy Carter, of UN elections monitoring fame, among other things, noted that the UN wouldn't let the setup in Florida pass, and Florida was really no worse than anywhere else for disenfranchisement and potential fraud.

I'm with ya. Back to Colorado, but I gotta wait at least another year. I do recall about three years ago our season there ended in April, with no corn, the thin cover all just melted in a matter of weeks. At least there was still powder in January.

I did some ski touring around SkiBowl the last couple of days and the conditions pretty much confirm what you see on telemetry. The cold, clear nights will probably rot the bottom layer out a bit, but there isn't that much snow. I'd just check for evidence of wind loading if I were you. Other than that it looks good for the Oregon latitudes. I can't speak for points north.

Can anyone suggest a good shop in Portland for a blown edge and base repair. I'd post the photo, but it's so disturbing that I fear the moderator would have to edit it. Other than that, please pray for more snow and help put an end to this type of needless carnage.

You homesick too, barker? I keep getting reports from the former crew in Colorado that Berthoud has been sick and that other place we can't talk about is filling in. At least Gaper Jeffey is finding what there is of skiable stuff for us.

Damn, I need new skis, but I think it might jinx the whole season. I was hoping Ullr would come through a little sooner, but NOAA is predicting a warm/dry December-February. So, where's the road trip going?

I found that Grivel G12 step-ins work really well with my Crispis. They are the standard rather than the wide width.

How is the corn shaping up in the Stevens area? I was thinking of heading to the family cabin near Leavenworth and wondering where there might be some buttery corn to harvest. Any suggestions for good destinations?
