From the PI: "Mount Rainier National Park spokesman Barry Fraissinet identified the deceased climber as Jon Cahill, a captain with the Auburn Fire Department, and his partner as Bellevue firefighter Mark H. Anderson. Both men were emergency medical technicians."

It appears that sources using AP feeds have both climbers alive, and the local reports have one dead and the other flown out with an injured wrist.

Ya, this is bizarre. You gotta wonder if people are confusing it with the last incident.
The PI has both of them still alive. Heres to hoping the better outcome is the truth. -
The reporting is all over the map on this incident. The aforementioned King5 web article has one climber dead, one climber being flown out with a broken hand. This KIRO web article has one climber with a "broken back being flown out, with the other walking out with a "wrist injury". And then there was the mentioned confusion about the KOMO article. I would expect that the King5 article is probably accurate, expecting the worst....but best to wait to hear the facts from the people who were/are actually involved in the rescue.

To be totally fair, the dogs should be given guns too.I believe we've already had this discussion, and collectively we came to the conclusion that the world would be a safer place if EVERYONE carried a gun.We came to this conclusion through reasoned analysis, so please do not dispute.
And for people unable to afford the safety provided by gun-ownership, I believe some form of government grant program could be put into effect. Now I know this reeks of "socialism" to some of you, but you must keep in mind the positives for humanity as a whole; sometimes a little bit of collective sacrifice is needed for the good of all.

The clear lesson here is don't let your dogs run free unless you're packing heat to defend yourself. If someone is shooting at you and yours, the only thing to do is to return fire. Peace through superior firepower.
