  1. We plan to bring several Tomahawks to Golden Gardens for the Fourth of July. Not the best idea, I know, considering the fireworks restrictions and all the bicycle cops there enforcing the municipal codes an shit, but a buddy works for the railroad and with the evening freight schedule the way it is, we might get 'em right there parked on a flatcar for a real good time. At first we were going do it at Hemp-Fest, kind of crash the party and have the missiles all cloaked in butcher paper to look like giant reefers in order to really surprise all the stoners when the rocket engines fire up. But that party got closed down so fuck it. Anyway, right now, we're thinkin' about takin' out the marker buoy that's there, just off Meadow Point, provided there ain't no seals or sea lions on it. But we are still open to suggestions. Choosing Metallica for the video is almost a certainty: Best idea yet!
  2. Tanks roll into Benghazi
  3. March 18, 2011 Top of the morning. It appears we are now in our third war: By authorization of the UN Security Council and a newly-granted express consent from the Arab League, NATO forces will protect civilians of Benghazi and other areas of Libya by "all necessary [airborne] measures." NATO's operations have commenced, with Norway, France, and Britain announcing prepartions to attack within a few hours are underway. Stated interventions include bombing raids against artillery and tanks, while imposing a no-fly zone over the country. Germany abstained from the UN council vote, says it will be keeping its personnel out of the conflict, and gives the reason that warfare is just too fucking dangerous. No word just yet about the Enterprise carrier strike group and other American naval power positioned off Libya over the past few weeks, but at least one indicator points to a particular (yet moving) target for the Tomahawks: “We know what Gaddafi is capable of – the biggest terrorist atrocity on British soil.” Most recently attributed to Gaddafi, are threats to attack civilian air traffic over the Mediterranean.
  4. I would argue, but lack the words to provide you a fitting response! So where is the Fairy now, when such a moment as this beckons his attention, that he might put that librul shill and communist thug, Ronald Reagan, into his proper place?

  14. To withstand warfare, the states necessarily depend upon the federal government for protection. In the financial sphere of conflict, I believe that protection is presently disabled, and no structural engineer(s) at any state capitol will successfully compensate for that vulnerability.
  15. On the money. It all depends on your personal thoughts and baggage how you feel about this act. Certainly not a hero by common definition of the word. Much like Tre Arrow up on the ledge. Go Tre Go! The folk "hero" was called a "Hero" a lot until he got convicted for burning up logging and cement trucks. http://www.oregonlive.com/news/index.ssf/2009/06/tre_arrow_says_oregon_halfway.html The penalty seemed excessive. To like everyone. However, if it had been your truck he torched, would he still have been a "hero" to you? I can assure you that kind of reasoning could extend to every vehicle on the planet. Even your Prius. Would you then feel he was a Hero? Or only when he was destroying someone else's stuff? I can give you my answer, but let me just say that us old people have different standards than self-centered blowhards like Pat Gallagher, who have very little life experience and thus tend to be a touch screwed up in the head, as his posts usually indicate. Whoa!
  16. Sure, a structural engineer should seriously consider design allowances for earthquakes. But would anyone fault the engineer who says something like, "If it hadn't been for the aerial bombardment, this building would be still standing."

  23. If Walker made promises to do what he's doing, it wasn't to the voters of Wisconsin. To the voters of Wisconsin, he did not promise to break unions, but now he's going all out to do so. To the voters of Wisconsin, he didn't promise to push the state into a budget deficit, which he did. To the voters of Wisconsin, he didn't promise to seize dictatorial power over state resources, which he's now attempting to do by way of the bill he's pushing with Republican support in the state legislature. If Walker made promises to do what he's doing, it was behind closed doors, and made with the oligarchs who now are making a play for the wealth of Wisconsin. What Walker is doing is kleptocracy in action, and, at the very least, deserves no commendation.
  24. Yes, the waivers are temporary, with their availability put in place to protect existing coverage, such as that provided by unions, to keep that coverage intact until new provisions take effect, at least that's what it looks like. I would prefer a simpler transition, to a single payer system. Anyway, as of 2014, the waivers will no longer be available.
  25. Will the explicit ethics violations committed by the governor while speaking with the faux Koch brother result in the governor's removal from office? Did any part of what the governor said comprise an admission that he has, while in office, considered waging criminal action against the people of Wisconsin?
