No refills or recycling?

Well? I can't fathom just throwing them in the trash...

official bitch about the weekend weather thread
Kiwi replied to gapertimmy's topic in Climber's Board
I just love how it's sunny M-F, then rainy Sat & Sun, and finally sunny again M-F. -
800m That has to be a literal TON of rope!

Elaborate! Bloody hell! Look at what I found on Google! I thought Rainier was crowded! You got 10 year olds and 60 year olds summiting this 12000ft mountain!
-
Sweet! Thanks for the info and pics. Yeah, I haven't been able to go to the pub clubs. Been really busy with school. Summer will be a different story.
-
Weather permitting, I'll be doing the Railroad Grade/Easton glacier route with my BoeAlps group this weekend. Anyone have any beta for a newbie? Is this is a pretty common route? How difficult is the Roman Wall? Will the summit be above the clouds this weekend?

The what pack? Oh that? Yeah, I have that pack. I really like it. It was the only pack besides the Bora that fit me really well. I got it because it was lighter (and cheaper). The shovel pouch is very convenient. Like 2morehours mentioned, the organisation is nice. It had all the gear loops and pockets I need. (1 for axe, and 2 for tools) I only have two gripes. There's no side access, but that's a personal thing. Also, the sleeping pad loop at the bottom is REALLY small. I can barely fit the Z-rest in it. As for compressibility, I rarely use anywhere near the full 70 L; usually 50-60 L. It compresses really well. You can straight-jacket the pack if you have a small load.

Cool. Looks like I'll have to check out Second Ascent. WhisperLite is white gas, right? I've never used white gas before. I don't even know what priming means.
-
Any experience? Has anyone used this in winter?

I'm too young to know when Eddie Bauer used to sell climbing stuff. I can see TNF and other outdoor outfitters heading in that direction.
-
I agree.

So I bought this book for my BoeAlps Basic course... Man, that's a sobering book. :-\ I haven't heard of many of these accidents. One of the particular tragedies that struck me was an incident on Rainier. It sucks when a rope team entangles other rope teams as they slide down the mountain. :-( I think this was the helicopter one.
-
Cool. About time.
-
I'm taking the Basic class right now.
-
Very cool. The RMI group was probably doing expedition training.
-
I don't see the problem. I thought Americans were supposed to be the uptight ones.
-
Bloody hell, mate! Epic shots.
-
Impossible. That's almost as bad as shorts over polypro.

I can't wait when the press gets their hands on the D70 and do a full comparo with the 300D. On paper, it sounds loads better than the 300D. Built from scratch > stripped down.

http://www.nationleprechaun.com/photos/ Before 9-13-2003: A40 After 9-13-2003: A70 The A80 is basically the same as the A70.

I have an s400 and like it a lot. I really like the 3x zoom and how small it is. Some sample pictures from it are at: http://students.washington.edu/climb/GlacierPeak/ Haven't put it to test in really cold/wet conditions yet though. Wow, great shots. Excellent colour saturation!
