Does anyone live near Wedgewood who may be able to give me a ride back?
-
Ahh, ok I got it now. BEER!
-
So I'm confused ... the two threads that are currently active regarding pub crawls/clubs .. are they both discussing the same day (Thursday)? Or is this some sort of "pub club madness" week [if you will] on which both Tuesday and Thursday we'll be drinking in two separate places?
-
That looks sweet! Thanks for the TR.

I'm game for anything. Wedgewood Alehouse sounds good ... I've never checked out the Broiler, but I'm sure it meets all of our rigorous qualifications (i.e. they serve beer).

You know what I noticed? People often like to bitch just to be bitching about something. Don't get discouraged from writing a TR exactly how you want to write it. I thoroughly enjoy most of the TRs I've read on this website and don't really care if people ARE chestbeating. If you climb a route and it's a 'worthy' route, mere mention of you having climbed it would be considered chestbeating to a lot of people. So when you're writing a TR, don't worry about what other people think so much, just concentrate on providing accurate information .. which is what TRs are supposed to be all about.

I do agree that there are certain annoyances that flourish in other peoples writings (including TRs). But I just skip over it and I find that it really doesn't bother me a bit unless I sit there and dwell on it.

I've never been to one of these pub club deals ... have you guys ever thought of having a pub club at the wedgewood broiler? I live in Wedgewood and don't drive, so that would be poyfect.

In my opinion, the person writing the TR is writing the TR to share information. If you don't like what the person's writing it's pretty easy to ignore the parts that bother you and take in the parts you want to know about. Everybody works in different ways .. just because you don't want to hear something doesn't mean someone else doesn't. As for name dropping, just because someone mentions someone "famous" in a TR doesn't mean they're bragging about knowing them. If they are, they're a putz, but I have yet to read a TR where I felt someone was bragging about knowing someone. And about having to read climbing resumes, I would think a climbing resume would give some indication of how experienced a climber is. This would enable the person seeking a climbing partner to get a better idea how experienced the stranger is who just asked to tag along on a route that, with the wrong partner, could possibly kill them both. It's pretty ridiculous to bitch about how people provide information to you when they're doing you a favor in the process. This post seems silly to me, and I don't often go out of my way to discount a post on this board. I don't mean to pick on you, I just don't agree with your post. Cheers

Hey NEWSTIPS are you guys hiring? I could be your link between the climbing world and the media world. I will answer all questions regarding climbing and hiking all I ask is that I get to post on cascadeclimbers.com all day while I'm at work and I don't have to work when high pressure is dominating. Talk to your chief and get back to me on this.

That sounds epic .. I'm glad you guys got back safe!

I pay attention to NOAA's forecast only. The weather channel has screwed me up more than I can count. I stopped using accuweather.com and weather.com after many failed attempts on Shuksan due to "unexpected" weather.
-
Thanks for the info bDubyaH ... I'll try those.

That's weird catbirdseat, you don't have a title under you Avatar . I guess that's what 500 does to you. Glad they found the missing hikers.

The Ingraham was the worst in my opinion. It was hip deep near the upper portion.
-
Yikes .. -47 degrees Celsius on the summit. Pretty chilly.

Thanks for the replies everybody. sverdina you may be right .. my boots are a tad bit small but I bought them that way on purpose so the inner boots could stretch to a proper fit. Since this was only my second trip with these boots they probably haven't broken in all the way (although they're probably getting there now). That in combination with my tendency to kick harder than I need to on steeper slopes probably caused the numbness. It's good to know others have had the same problem and that the pain will eventually go away.

I have a pair of Koflach Degres that I have only used twice. I came back from Rainier this week after wearing them for two days and both my big toes are completely numb. I don't think it's frostnip (although I'm not sure) .. I think it may be the boots. My question is has anyone ever experienced this before, has anyone ever experienced this before with Koflach Degres, and to all the podiatrists out there, what is going on with my feet? Will the feeling return?

I hate that stupid Barilla Spaghetti commercial with the dude singing foreign opera in the background sounding like a dead fish. It troubles me so much I have to turn the channel when it comes on. And I also hate that new commercial where the guy's got a telephone headset on and he says, "Give me a call, and we can help put it all together for you" with his crooked ass half smile looking like urkyll. How did that guy get on a commercial? Maybe I should get into acting.

I am guilty myself .. as a matter of fact, I think I may have blamed you for some of mine. Nice TR catbirdseat .. you obviously have a much better memory than me!
-
Wow .. you're right I had that backwards. All that postholing made my brain numb. So to answer the guy's question a couple posts back, yes we untied and switched leads about every 400 feet. It was slow going but we got there. I was wondering what Harry was talking about.
-
lol .. thanks for the support Harry.
-
Pretty simple really .. we untied from the rope (up until we got above the ledges). We weren't roped up above Gib Ledges so it was pretty easy to change leads.
-
We didn't take many photos on the trip, but Oyvind took a couple nice ones in the upper chute and on the summit. I'll try and get some photos up soon. MattP .. we all took turns breaking trail. It was a grunt fest.

Good to meet you as well TTT. And thanks for breaking trail up to Muir for us!
