Why the homophobic blasphemous reply, Josh? Can't you be a bit nicer and accomodated of those of us who decided to spend their money on a nice car rather than on new skis? Such hatred.
-
Careful, Josh, Justin is a crazy mofo. Watch your back. Hold off till Tuesday and I might be able to join you guys.
-
How about Hummer limos? Will someone rant about those, too? Please?
-
And all joking aside, I appreciate the 60 cents (probably less) you contributed to my education this year, Ralph. Many thanks. Edited , bitches!
-
There are a lot of students here. You must make a LOT of money to be able to pay them all 6.5k.
-
Ok, fine, but he should be more concerned about how much he's paying for the in state students.
-
I fail to understand how your taxes are paying any part of my education, slothrop. I would LOVE IT if I could be classified as a resident. But I can't, at least as far as education definitions go.

Books are the exception, since the UW bookstore is run by assholes. If I present the driver's liscense, I'm exempt from being taxed on every other purchase I've made.
-
Halliburton driver! OMFG!
-
I don't pay sales tax anyway, since I've got an OR drivers liscense.

If you can point me to a store who will give me 10% off, I will buy there all the time. Until then, I'll buy at REI. And why shouldn't I do my part to keep REI afloat? Their salespeople have families, too!
-
I got a free stove (that I needed anyway) from my dividend. Without the dividend I would have had to buy the stove anyway. So because I shopped at REI, I saved 70 bucks. Why is this so hard to understand? Are these the same people who think that credit cards give you free money?

Deliveries, yeah, but as for the commuters, get a tiny little car that gets 30 or 40 mpg, then your commute will be well within the realm of cost-effective.

The amount of human influence is the question. And I don't believe that anyone really knows the answer. This is not so say that we shouldn't try to minimize our impact on the planet; we should. Too many people like to make too big a fuss about global warming, and I tend to be skeptical of anything so politicized. I can go either way, but nothing is very conclusive. But as AlpineK likes to point out, I'm just a stupid kid.

Acually, Fairweather, that co2sciece page seems a bit whacked-out to me. They seem to be trying to convince people that if we screw with the climate more, we'll be better off. I'm not sure if I believe that. Nothing like good, old-fashioned bias!
-
You guys are hilarious!
-
Now this turns into a game of "I know you think so, but I don't!". Science is religion! Either you believe, or you don't!

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure. Yeah, baby! The system isn't MY enemy!

The data is there. Temps are going up, and carbon in the atmosphere is going up. Is there a correlation? We don't know, despite media efforts to convince us that we do. There are plenty of smart people who say we don't know. It's the causality, j_b, not the data. Too bad this is no longer science, but politics. And working off the premise that we are, indeed, raising the temperature of the earth (ignoring evidence that the Earth has been through plenty of melt/freeze cycles before humans started screwing around), what are we gonna do about it? I think we should just kill off 90% of the population. That would solve everything. In the end, that's what will happen. Some natural disaster will wipe most of us out, and Earth will happily start over. Maybe the will evolve and do something stupid, too. Either way, we're fucked!
-
This is not possible! Every good global warming drone knows that record temperatures are only NOW being set... in the period that began January 2001. What is this 1913 nonsense? Please go back and re read your EarthJustice handbook and repeat the litany again, and again, and again. The sky is falling, the Earth is warming. Man is the cause! Man is the cause! (Repeat) By gosh, you took the words right out of my mouth! And when are we going to take back over the Panama Canal? The melting icecaps are going to flood it anyways.

Thanks catbirdse...I mean, will.

What a convincing argument.
