  5. but with a new mInI iPod, you can crank tunes and slog, and you don't have to worry about crazy ass californian drivers. anytime you want to go to 3FJ lemme know... i'm guessing the skiing only got better since all those pesky trees got burned by dubya
  6. yep, they asked me if i knew some joker named Ryland... the spary connections scare me at times. snow was so-so, beer was excellent, company great, class ahhh, okay, will post a tr soon.
  7. i wonder if you could access via the frenchglenn side as well, maybe sled assisted... the northern access road from the west side seemed fairly mellow to me. I'm with fejas, with the snows this year, i imagine some of the gullys will hold snow into June, but don't know if the vert drop would be super long. Still, all orygonianz should check this place out.
  8. yeah the whole PCT region to the North of elk lake, mirror lakes vicinity, there is tons of little hills around there, but without a sled the approach just doesn't seem worth it. I'd love to get back over there during a good weather period, or later this spring and do some exploring.
  9. 8=========D d00d! so pretty, need to ski Not the greatest pic (it was smokey, too much muir hut), but this is the slide lakes basin, the upper basin is an almost perfect horseshoe of plab potential. When we were camped out there (sometime after chinook came back with toilet paper hanging from his mouth), there was a herd of elk perched at the top of the rim lookin down at us... it was neat.
  10. sweet pics. i'm goin to strawberry next week, who's in?
  11. tam mcarthur and if have access to a sled (to get to the wilderness boundaries) the husband looks like it would be a dope ski.
  12. its raining at 6k right now, so very ghey. strawberries, mmmmmm, i betz there are some SICK lines up in that hizzy, slide basin... wonder why its called slide?

  21. netstumbler is a handy little free application that helps find wireless networks. most neighborhoods in the seattle area i'm guessing (like my parents) will have a variety of wireless networks tapped into cable or dsl lines, and might be open, eg anyone can connect to them. i forgot the name of the project, but there was a grassroots movement up there to have a public wifi network in the greater metro area providing free high speed for the masses... maybe someone here might have a link.
  22. if you live in a populated area, go buy a cheap wifi card, and download netstumbler get yer access for free. i found about 4 wide open wireless networks by my folks place in Bellevue, and I bet most neighborhoods in seattle you would find the same luxury.
