dude it so does. skin up behind someone with rat tail and you'll see HUGE drag. plus the added weight.... i think it might be the least inefficient tail clip system out there. JIBBER
-
ahem *cough* "getting technique"? sheeeeat, look at my form, not to mention my sculpted ass: look for me in this summers competition circuit, speed climbing, you name it, i'm down.
-
skins are installed, looks like i started a telemarktips-esque debate here. ummm, clips on the tails are very necessary... yeah, i'm working on the charts... though the rat tail increases drag, which of course means more energy loss on the skin up. What would extremo do?

excellent, thanks... i just have a bad feeling about this little task (visions of failed home improvement projects in my head)
-
good idea Klenke, i'll look into that one.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has been posting TR's in the new system... makes for a nice way to get a digest of what has been going on. I appreciate it.

check my TR about wing ridge. it is only about a 2 mile tour into the base of the ridge, very little elevation gain. most of the ridges from there can be grabbed within an hour's tour. you can actually access McCully (just a few ridges north) from the same th... or make a camp between the two and have some fun. the huts are a nice option if you are willing to $pay, but i heard they are already booked until late March. http://www.wallowahuts.com runs tours to a yurt up in McCully basin as well.

battlecage? veggie... when i upgraded the message board a few months back, i forgot to add in the "retro stats" link. so the way that thing worked was the image was hotlinked to their site, and thus it collected data for everyone to see as far as usage goes on the site. so since i have forgotten to add it back in (i've been busy skiing and doing other stuff on the site) we've lost stats for the past month or so. our hosting provider keeps track of all the site visitors/bandwidth used as well, this is how the figure out how much to charge us. From time to time I think Jon posts the usage here on the board... I never thought it was really of interest to site visitors. statistically speaking, the popularity of the site has been growing over since its inception. depending on who you are, this is pretty cool, or perhaps scary, or perhaps it makes no fucking sense at all. the funny thing about it, we have one of these tirades each year about moderation, or banning or whatever, people get pissed, but the site continues to grow statistically.... i think that shows the diversity of the site. i get a tad upset when some fine folks go, but all you can do is hope for some fresh content, great TR's (which there have been some excellent ones posted the past few days), and every once in awhile a good troll. imho, people take this site a tad too seriously at times. everyone on here needs to step outside the spray and smell the fresh air. get away from the computer, go climb, or ski, or spank yer richard simmons... and be plab. oh well enough of that for now. if you would like to see some numbers or graphs i can post some links later but i got a ton of shizzy going on at work right now.

you are out of your element jon

i think i'm going to create a new "I'm leaving cc.com" index so we can post classic "last posts" there. i think the first one was the "roll the credits", mf206'er was that his name? the creator of the sweet granite in renton troll. what about amber? where is she, she can save spary! extremo?

yeah if you recieve a .zip file as an attachment, stear clear, unless you are expecting and trust the source.

iz sick up in da hizzy this am. being the international man of mystery that i am, i bestowed the "liftie" uniform this am and snuck onto a pre-opening chair. quiet and still, a blanket of freshies lay in front of my xXx pornos and it was time to rock. though i was unsure of where to go, the boardz guided me down the plab of the red chair line, and eventually to the base of DA CONE. slogged, and then at the top... the snow hit my face as i gazed out towards the three sisterds wilderness, quiet and still, i couldn't help but smile that big shit eating grin one gets when about to get sum. the cone was fantastic, perfectly loaded from the wind, no tracks, just bliss. this morning defines plab.

Climb: Wallowas-Wing Ridge Ski Date of Climb: 1/8/2004 Trip Report: A few weeks back i had the distinct pleasure of heading out to the land of TG to participate in an avy 1 course offered by Wing Ridge Ski Tours (www.wingski.com). The drive out to Enterprise sucked major arse... this was days after the BIG WINTER BLAST... so 9 hours after leaving bend, I finally arrived in Enterprise. The first day was spent in the classroom, ehhh, bleeeeh, kinda lame, but the evening was plab thanks to TG's fine crafts, and his generous hospitality. Saturday, the class headed up to the Wing Ridge Huts. The tour is very quick, only about 2 miles up from the TH. The Huts are canvas tents, sheltered by a-frames. Each one equiped with a toasty wood stove, bunks, plenty o firewood, and sleeping pads. The cooking tent is decked out with cooking utinsels, so all one needs is their skiing gear, and beer of choice. The course in the field was pretty good. Had the chance to play with many different types of beacons, practice the multiple burial... all the while with the beauty of the Wallowas all around me. The first day we got to ski the burn just below the huts. There was only about 3' of snow on the ground, so it wasn't the most enjoyable turns of the season, but still plab. The second day we got to make some better turns higher up. Yo-yo laps, and then back to the huts for a tasty dinner, followed by a trip to the sauna tent.... life was good. The course overall was good, the huts/area is absolutely fantastic. Excellent terrain, just needs a bit more snow... am going to have to get back there in the spring for sure. A good time was had by all!

what IE or alternate browser are you running Matt? I run this sucker on different OS', different browsers and visiting the LOGOUT page always fixes my cookie problems (even for all my different avatars)

a guy had the K2's on a recent trip, they don't allow you to lock down the heel, for skinning they seemed to work pretty well, and homeboy actually was riding them downhill as well, it was interesting. but for someone just using them for the approach, maybe the occasional downhill ride on an approach and then strapping the board on for the big ride, i think they would work pretty well.... or you could always save the cash you'd spend on them, sell your snowboard, and buy an AT setup

The PUBlISH button is still an option as well, great for getting events, access info, and other great reads posted to the "other" part of the site. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/index.php?option=articles&Itemid=3 or http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/index.php?option=archiveNews&type=Articles

winter- I'm just tossing around the idea RE: FA reporting... there seems to be quite a bit of discussion on and offline regarding why people don't post FA's here. I"m of the camp that believes that no matter what type of reporting system is in place here I still think folks won't do it, but i'm trying to be open minded about it. We already have a forum for FWTD's and FNA's it be called 'Spray' Dustin... if you click on the Name of the route it will take you to the original thread... using the form still creates a post in the forum just like any normal post would do, but it INDEXES certain info, to make it easier to find TR/Beta via the TRIP REPORT INDEX.
-
thanks for the props everyone We are discussing different ways of making FA publishing here a bit more friendly and that is kind of in the works. maybe version .02 will have it

Greeetings Everyone- If you are a very keen eyed cc.com'er you may have noticed a new button in the "Route Report" Forums. Right up there next to the new post button, you'll see a New TR button. what is this? I think we all know there is some great content here on cc.com, but at times it gets burried amongst other, well, not so glamorous postings. The NEW TR button is an attempt to help index the good stuff a bit better, at the same time adding a little bit of structure to trip reports. The NEW Trip Report Form When you have a trip report to post now, i kindly ask that you click that little button, and use the super fancy form. There are some pre-defined fields that are very usefull for trip reports, and a neato-new MY PICTURES popup panel... it allows you to add pictures you have posted in the gallery to your trip report with one click of the mouse! How dope is that? Well I thought it was kind of cool. So What does it do? Well, it makes trip reports look all nice and purdy, and it posts them to their perspecitve forum just like days of old, but it also populates the NEW TRIP REPORT INDEX http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/tripreports.php The goal of the trip report index is to give people a quick way to view the latest beta and TR's that have been posted here. You can search/sort the trip report index much like the normal search engine, but its nice and fast, and I think its easy to use. You can search by Location (eg Mountain or Crag) name, by the date of the trip, the date the trip report was posted, and by the geographic->form the Trip report belongs to. You will also notice that a little camera icon shows up next to TR's that have pictures in them (not graemlins, real pictures). Neat so... So right now the mod's are going through the past 3 years of posts and slowly adding in the old TR's into the system, but you the dedicated cc.com'er needs to now venture out into thar hills, with camera in hand, and get sum, and then come back so you can click on that little NEW TR button and post away! Feedback-Bug Reports-Features Please post feedback and bug reports to this thread. Some new features will be added in that will leverage the trip report index a bit more (namely opt-in trip report digests to your email inbox) and some other neato stuff. Let me know what you think! -Timmy

I hear if you are looking to concieve a child, especially if your female partner is very young, Burns is a good place to try. I'm curious, what canyons? Along 395 north of town? I try to not spend too much time out there, just enough to check on the portable meth labs.

you can't log in from the main www.cascadeclimbers.com page?
-
yeah i've been very pleased with them so far. haven't toured on them yet, but they are considerably lighter than my other AT setup. you are very correct in saying that they like to go fast, and turn well at higher speeds. so much fun
