  1. i heard the USFS has an accounting outfit full of WSU grads that perform their audits, scary
  2. theres a better bouldering spot just past the left turn to meadows, keep going about 1/4 mile down cascade lks hwy, just about right across from the enterance to widgi creek golf course, hang a right into the woods and drive a ways in, super secret boulder spot. as i said before also, there is some great lines, some bolted, a quick hike outside of Shevlin Park, i'll show you guys next time yer in town
  3. be sure not to buy a camera with too much shit on it. go into the process knowing what you want, and don't be lured by the latest and greatest bells n whistles. besides, when that one company finished developing the pixel that measures RGB in each single pixel, that will be the next BIG thing with digital cameras, until then, you should be more than fine with a 2.0-3.0 megapixel
  4. theres lots of quality meth labs down there. drive up to bend, and there are some short bolted/tr routes West of Shevlin park and outside the meadows picnic area on the deschutes, only 20 miles away from lepine

  10. we used some of these in yosemite, its basically a seismic sensor. we would place them at remote trail crossings into the park in hopes of catching poachers when they entered the park. the sensor was buried under ground, and the radio antenna was usually hidden in bushes nearby. When someone, or something, would walk over, the radio was programed to transmit to a repeater, and said ranger's radio would get a signal of a computer voice saying a number designated for that sensor. pretty freakin cool if you ask me, the technology that is. so if they use them in yosemite, i'm sure forest service peeps have them as well. in fact, just remembered this, we had borrowed these from the forest service law enforcement guys, those nazis [ 08-21-2002, 02:11 PM: Message edited by: gapertimmy ]
  11. this is no shit... when i worked in yosemite, rednecks and other interesting folks would walk around the Cherry Lake forest service lands (nw of yose) with 12 guage shot guns and kill snaffles. I believe the limit was 5 snaffles per person, per day. These guys would drive in their trucks till they found an area with large snaffle infestation and go to town. One of them even had a hat made of snaffle pelts, very cool
