  1. So, How is Snugtop I take food, extra water and clothes. You can make a "pad" out if tree branches to insulate the victim. I think I will start taking a small stove and pot and some hot chocolate mix as it will give the victim something to do while I go for help or, if incapacitated, then the warm liquid would raise spirits
  2. Just order the DVD
  3. And most of the great hordes of unwashed and impoverished climbers/skibums/mountaineers that I've come across in my ten years in Colorado and ten out here come from middle to upper class backgrounds. So.....
  4. Yeah Dru We need to have a talk about some of these things you have planned...
  5. Invoke the "Powder Clause" hidden in yur contract, dummy!
  6. Because humans get fat and depressed if life is not a scary struggle. So, once you have shelter and food taken care of, then you are free/driven to spend thousands of dollars on gear and go out and get gripped.....plus many whites seem to have some weird gene combos
  7. We had a great time, But we didn't go seracing. The powder conditions were too good so we went noodle farming instead. We drove up Glacier Creek Road 5 miles on packed powder (4WD + traction tires) and could have drove the whole way to the trailhead at 8 miles as the 'bilers packed the whole thing down good. There was a fairly decent skin track through the woods and we made it to tree line in 3 1/2 hours from the truck. We made a snow trench and camped out in our bivy sacks. Brrrrrr. It must have got down to the low teens. Next day it never seemed to get above lower 20's. great blower pow to play in We skied back to the truck from camp in 1 1/2 hours. Conditions on Sunday Dec 4 2005. There is plenty of blue ice showing
  8. A little surface slough I set off on a 40+ degree, North facing slope below Heliotrope Ridge Sunday Dec 4. We found the conditions there to be really stable and bonded to the old freeze/melt layer. The snowpack really thin in places and filled in with powder elsewhere. As the day wore on tho, it kept snowing and the wind (from the West) transported snow was becoming packed and crusty.
  9. Yeah Blake and I were going to go seracing but switched to noodle farming with conditions this good
  10. My Ibex pants and jacket worked great this w/e as you saw. Kept me warm even when wet and dried out as I wore them. Conditions were very cold and dry tho... I don't know how much the wool in the blend helps out on the warm when wet sitmo. Anyone find their purely synthetic softshells working well when wet, heat retention wise?
  11. Glad you guys are ok and good work on the rescue
  12. You can rent touring skis pretty cheap from Glacier ski shop. User friendly and fast...
  13. We can ski it pretty fast. We could prolly get a tow if need be... that's what I had in mind Blake Easy, fun tour approach great snow caving yo yo powder some ice great views bar close by what else do you need...Anabelle Bond There was some detailed approach beta on some recent (last two months) threads for those of you willing to explore the "Search" function
  14. The road isn't plowed. I was up there on the 17th and could only get up six miles from hwy 542, the trailhead for heliotrope ridge is at 8 miles. It is an easy ski up especially since the bilers are always packing it down good. OMB, I would be into hooking up but we (Blake and I) are just taking all of our gear and seeing what conditions present. I'm not sure what to expect or where we might end up (Grahms bar in a drunken stupor...?!) PM me for a phone number. Yeah , heliotrope and a path (hahaha) leads off to the left as you come out of the woods. Basically, this time of year, grab the topo and look for the toe of the coleman.
  15. Who deleted my reply?! It's spray for crying out loud was it something I said?
  16. Looking for Ray Bourbon's action suit for comparison... anybody know how to get the "search" fuction to work and find that pic Dru?!
  17. Oly, that goeduck is a bit busy but fuckin' hilarious
  18. Yeah, at least I have a good excuse...punter!
  19. Tru that, the freezing levels have been low and it has been snowing I'm up for a look see and decide what seems like a fun option on the spot
  20. Yates Rocker Berserker
  21. I'd be interested, PM me for digits
  22. The ones at the toe of the Coleman. I have'nt tried them yet so don't know heights but fro what I've read, they seem to be up to 30 meters. there are several threads on this, do a search If the avy level is considerable + then we will go there this w/e. If not, then either Hannegan/Ruth or around Shuksan.
