  1. is what is important, right?
  2. Maybe the three of them guys can consult, interpret the tea leaves or the animal bones and call the damn thing. I don't want to have to pour through four threads in their entirety to maybe/maybe not figure out where the damn PC is this week.
  3. Just pushing this thread to the top. Uncle Tricky's post above is so good you all should read it.
  4. I strongly suggest that Dave Shuldt call the location of this Tuesday (Mar. 4) Pub Club at 4 pm, so everybody isn't totally confused and ends up in different places. I get confused enough in a normal week. He should start a new thread to be called "Location of Tue, Mar. 4 Pub Club".
  5. Gosh, it's a shame you didn't head up to Muir on Friday. You would have summitted for sure on Saturday. That's what comes from being employed. Hope you get it the next time.
  6. Yep, she was at the New Orleans. She isn't trying to keep her identity a secret, although she's been having fun with all this speculation. She said it was fun and wants to come to more Pub Clubs.
  7. There have been several threads on such topics as what material to use for cordelettes, when to retire them, and even how to rack them, but none on how they are used or how often.
  8. My friend Oyvind used a pair of the Stubai ultralights on our Gibraltar Ledges climb and they held up even to a fair amount of crunching over rock. Furthermore, his were the only ones that didn't ball up with snow on the slog back to Muir.
  9. We climbers are a "powerful" lot, if you get my drift.
  10. Thinker, I can't disagree. Nothing new under the sun.
  11. Nice TR. I'm psyched to do that route myself now.
  12. There you go. And tell her climbers have to live in a tent for days at a time without showers, consequently they all stink. One wiff and she'll be looking elsewhere for guys.
  13. We've been over this ground before. See the following: How hard would jesus climb.
  14. My condolences.
  15. The guy must have had a photographic memory. He just smothers you with minute detail. I think that the good TRs distill out the the superfluous details and still give others the feel of the climb.
  16. Marvelous. Let's see: Name dropping- check Hackneyed phrases- check Gear labels- check Lame metaphors- check Chest beating- check Hyperbole- check You pass the cc.com TR standard.
  17. Does it pass the "smoke test"?
  18. RuMR, go get lost. You're acting like a two year old.
  19. Please clarify. Is your objection related to your perception of your room mate as not having the aptitude or commitment for climbing? Or is it because she expects you to be her instructor and you don't enjoy teaching newbies? If she is serious about this, steer her towards one of the climbing courses taught by such groups as The Mountaineers, Boealps, or Washington Alpine Club. Let them deal with her.
  20. That reminds me of this one traverse I was making where I had to go right over a big pile of loose rocks, which happened to be right above my belayer, leejams. I just touched one 20 lb chunk, and it started falling. Fortunately, I caught it and placed it where it wouldn't fall. Then I had to gingerly step over another loose 100 lb rock. Crickey, that made me nervous.
  21. Congratulations. We're all waiting on the trip report.
  22. There are two kinds of grief: being out late and getting cold and tired, and then there is the grief that comes from having an accident with injury. I'll take the former.
  23. I looked at that. Yes, it was good. It would have flowed a little better with the judicious use of paragraph breaks.
  24. Ramuta's says they do rock shoes and sandals, but do they resole boots? They claim to be the only third generation shoe repair in Seattle. I believe Chick's on Mercer Island is also third generation.
  25. Ever do Guye 7 hrs door to door in winter? Wow. Part of it was the conditions and part if it was just us. Neither of us is very experienced.
