You shouldn't attempt to rewrite history so soon, it makes you look desingenious. Countless extremists like Norquist, Gramm, Gingrich and others have dismantled/prevented every single piece of market regulation they could get their hands on in the last 30 years. All in the name of the mythical "free" market. Eventually, free market zealots have punctuated the Reagan counter-revolution by handing out more than 5 trillions dollars of public money to corporations (iraq war, bailouts, unsecured loans, tax breaks, no bid/cost plus contracts,...). Free market ideology has once again been exposed for what it always was: handouts for the sole benefit of economic elites.

Greenspan attended Ayn Rand's weekly "greed is good" get togethers for decades. The other day he announced he couldn't never have imagined that bankers' greed would trump their duties to shareholders. Personally, I don't see any reason to believe him or PP.

Hell no! State capitalism is as much a total failure as laissez-faire capitalism. You ought to expand your horizons and avoid simplistic dichotomies: being against anarcho-capitalism has never made anyone a stalinist or a communist for that matter. Quite some interesting stories. Mine is much more banal in comparison: after years of scrambling and skiing, I wandered unroped on the lower Winthrop glacier in early summer and the weather closed in on us for a while.
