  1. With an invitation like that, how can he refuse?!?!?!
  2. His new Avatar isn't PeeWee Herman for no reason....
  3. Muffy, we're all SO appreciative that you are so forthcoming with all the special things you've learned from women. SURE....rub it in....rub it in....we're all jealous!
  4. So what is the standard cut off time. Seems to me 4:20 is a bit late for the reasons Dave points out. Alpine K seems to like to let the poll run late into the afternoon. I saw the 'traditional procedure' posted earlier in this thread (or maybe another thread)....what's the chance it can be expounded on, refined, and reposted so all can be in the loop? But wait! that might cut into the fun of the handfull of people who bat this thing back and forth endlessly everyweek! I, for one, think it would be a good idea to develop a schedule a month in advance to eliminate this bitchin' (which, incidentally, likely turns many away from attending the PCs). Responsibility for developing the schedule could rotate between several 'committees', the members of which could be made up of the folks who attended the previous PCs most frequently (and heck, throw in a wild card position for fun.) Who's responsible for maintaining the tradition of the process currently?
  5. did they interview any law enforcement folks?
  6. dang, looks like it might have been yesterday's news. Did anyone see it?
  7. Noticed this post by k5N hiding in 'Lost and Found' *********************** king5news miniwanker Reged: 01/20/03 Posts: 49 Loc: seattle, wa tonight's news #145432 - 03/02/03 04:24 PM Edit Reply Quote despite what many think of the media " " I thought I'd pass on that we're doing a couple of stories at KING-5 tonight at 5 that ya'll might be interested in seeing. 1) car prowls at trailheads... what the county is doing to stop them (nothing) and how abundant they are 2) the death of a local man involved in the "rescue" of a 16-year old snowmobiler at greenwater early this morning. just lettin' ya'll know. I'm outta here for a few hours (they've graciously agreed to release me from my chains long enough to remind my kiddo what I look like.) ************************** It wasn't but a few short days ago I suggested K5N do that story about crime at trailheads....I'll be interested in seeing how it's presented and if they can pressure Billy Bacon to actually do something about it.
  8. All the more reason for a separate section for pub clubs, as suggested earlier in this thread. Imagine a world filled with cc.com pub clubs in every county, state, and country.....
  9. features are nice, but they can limit where and how holds can be bolted on to the wall if you get carried away. interesting read here: web page What VW uses: web page

    What is that SMELL?

I noticed something amiss earlier and was about to ask if anyone else thought Trask had cracked DFA's password and was posting. Is that what you're talking about?
  12. Hey Fleb, I was having similar problems. I purchased one of those 'anatomically correct' keyboards for my work system and it seems to help greatly. I also did a quick rearrangement of my work station setup to make sure everything was optimal. No longer do my arms and wrists hurt/ache driving home after work.
  13. SOMEBODY didn't get laid last night......nor has he had his coffee yet. I quite like it when DFA comes out of the chute first thing in the morning with his fists balled up and venom on his tongue.
  14. I carry and use them. Besides their primary use for anchors, they're an essential piece of gear for a self-rescue scenario.
  15. We've got at least 4 or 5 separate threads spanning at least 2 different forums going now about this week's pub club! CC.com has reached a new level in this sick game of debating where PC should be. Will it be possible now to determine where PC will be before most people actually leave work at 4:30 or 5 on Tuesdays?
  16. Just let her smell your climbing shoes after you've got them warmed up properly, preferably on her pillow while she's napping.....that should cure her.
  17. so what's your point....isn't most everything here a rehash of something that came before?
  18. Hell, if that boy could walk on water, as anecdotal evidence indicates he could, he would simply levitate up any climb he chose to. Of course he'd be offering wine, fish, bread, and complementary foot washings to all the poor slobs bivying on the big walls along the way. edit: damn sorry folks, I thought this was a 'spray' topic....
  19. I'll bet Trask and Dwayner don't go to Snow Creek Wall without checking the 'goat report'. It's hardly worth the trip up there for either of them if there's not a little (goat) kid to plug....
  20. The only time I've been dropped and decked was when a newbie was belaying me with a gri-gri. Actually, she was lowering me with a gri-gri......NEVER again!
  21. my favorite last year was a lady at Smith belaying with a parrot on her shoulder. for the longest time I thought it was the parrot with a high nasaly voice bitching at someone nearby. when i passed her later, it was actually the lady's voice.......... what does that have to do with dogs at Smith? Nothing..... (sorry in advance DFA if that was you or yours....)
  22. Seems to me it may be worthwhile carrying a radio or cell phone so friends or the sheriff can do a quick check with you prior to calling out a full-blown SAR operation. All it would take is a small bit of coordination with the people entrusted with your expected return time (i.e. frequency, cell number, etc.). A similar (though much less epic) experience drove that point home to me personally. I'd have given almost anything to have had a cell phone with me so I could call friends and tell them I was safe at an unplanned bivy a couple of years ago. As it turned out, SAR was all geared up at the trailhead ready to come looking when we walked into their midst wondering what all the fuss was about. In any case, glad you're both safe!
  23. How big will your group be? students + instructors....
  24. From one source: Urban legend WTTW's member magazine, Chicago's local PBS affiliate, had an interesting profile on Fred Rogers on the 30th anniversary of _Mr. Rogers' neighborhood_. Here are the highlights: 1951 - Graduated from Rollins College with a degree in music composition. 1951 - 53 - Hired by NBC, became assistant director for _The Voice of Firestone_ and floor director for _The Lucky Strike Hit Parade_ and the _Kate Smith Hour_. 1953 - 1960 - Returned to Pittsburgh to WQED and developed _The Children's Corner_. 1962 - Attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, ordained by the Pittsburgh Presbytery. 1963 - Moves to Toronto and produces a children's program called _Misterogers_ for the CBC. 1964 - Returns again to WQED to produce _Mister Rogers' Neighborhood_ which continues to this day. So, Mr. Rogers' didn't get the chance to participate as a sniper or any other capacity in any US police action in this century.
