To Lamb and the other unknowing purists...........
I'm interested in how many of you have actually LED a pitch in full winter conditions? There is an immense difference between climbing in the rain vs. what we experienced on 3/9/03. It was 30 degrees, with frozen rain and snow. Icewater was pouring down not just the route, but the whole wall from approx. 30 inches of wet, new snow deposited hours earlier. Placing a pin doesn't sound too bad now does it.

Ok, then the question drifts to whether you should have been on a free climbing crag route in such conditions where you carried pins.

I love it. As Trask says it feels nice in the hand. It is still relatively light too. I probably have a size to long though.
Wait, what are you talking about?

maybe the cop was gay too but they were too clueless to figure out he was looking for support. they coulda been the bavarian village people... the cop, the candy maker, the lederhosen-wearing lumpenproletariat, youd also need a cuckoo clock maker and a transvestite apron girl.
Bad boys, bad boys

The cafe was far enough outside of Leavenworth for the couple's living arrangements to escape the notice of most locals. Attempts by townspeople to introduce Price and Rodgers to their spinster sisters and daughters quietly bombed. Rodgers thinks locals must have realized that they were gay. "They were rednecks, not stupid," he says. But Price doubts it. A police officer used to freely visit with them, he says. He doubts that would have happened if the officer had an idea that they were gay.
This paragraph has my favorite line...
"They were rednecks, not stupid."

Geez, I'm getting skunked on this one.

I have to admit there were times when I've been short on water and I wanted to brush to get the dregs and oil from another sordid dehydrated meal off my teeth. Should I brush my teeth and waste the water or not, I'd ask myself.
You don't need water to brush your teeth. You can just....
....swallow.

Don't you put a HELL of a lot more force on a biner during a fall? Would you stop using a biner because you fell on it?
Um...yeah, total force is bigger, total point loading is not bigger...
I guess that would depend what it was clipped to. Imagine the biner clipped to a bolt, so that the loading is only on the biner along the thickness of the hanger. I bet in a fall, the max local stress on the biner would be pretty high.

Why not fight them. They probably make big time $$$ in profit! Your idea is worth money. I'm just guessing but I know that I could use an extra 50 or 100 grand which is what you probably could settle out of court for, ask MattP
I could definitely "use an extra 50 or 100 grand". I've has an attorney send a cease&desist letter, and recieved a terse response. It's litigate, not negotiate. But litigation is a complicated decision, and what's right, or wrong, isn't the only contributing factor. The parent corporation of the offending company has annual revenues of $50 billion. Bringing a lawsuit could cost me $200,000, or more. What's the risk/benefit ratio?
As my father told me, life is hard.
Sending you a terse response is cheap for them. Big companies ignore patents and trademarks regularly when they know the intimidation factor is high or the cost of settling out of court is a small fraction of their profits. Take a cut of their money.

More importantly, today marked the three-year anniversary of the high-water mark for the Nasdaq Composite, when it peaked at 5,132.52 during the day and closed at a record 5,048.62 on March 10, 2000. The tech-driven index has plunged more than 70 percent since then and celebrated the day by declining 26.92 points, or 2.1 percent, to 1,278.37.
