On the North Face of Concord Tower, there are a wad of rap slings about half way up the second pitch. After topping out on the short third pitch, we rapped off the top assuming we would reach the slings.Fejas said:b-rock said:I was under the impression that it happens quite often... Why people tie knots in the ends...
I understand it happens a lot, but why? do these people just not pay attention to the fact that they are runing out of rope? Or do they not look down and see that their rope isn't long enough? I know I'll just rapel to the end and jump, thats a great Idea...
Wrong.
My partner almost slid off the ends because he was looking at the terrain and not the tail of the ropes. The ropes ended 10 ft or so above the slings.

Were you headed out to Mountaineer's Dome this past weekend to work on your super secret 5.1 project route?fleblebleb said:What do you guys do when you walk into a group of ~40 mounties clogging up a whole crag with top-ropes, most of which aren't in use?

Sport boating?Ursa_Eagle said:iain said:You can't run a river with this:
That's like saying that you can't do a backpacking trip with plastic boots. You can if you really want to, but it won't be comfortable, and that's not what it's designed to do. I'll be the first to admit that kayak designs are getting outrageous, but more and more people are just interested in "park and play" boating, so that's the trend of the boats.

Whether you fly it, float it, or f*ck it, it's cheaper to rent than to buy.

Ha. Ha. Ha.
Good joke. Ya gave it away with the line about finding the idea of the message board on a porn site. Porn sites don't have message boards. It's hard enough typing with two hands.

About a month ago a million Mounties intermediate course takers were coming into the shop, Demanding a specific type of tech cord for cordalettes. They bought out the entire town, we called to check at REI and FF and they had experienced the same rush of mounties demanding said cordalette material. seems they had been given a handout stating this tech cord was the ONLY appropriate material for a cordalette. And that using one inch tubular was unacceptable.
Oh gosh. This sounds like bullshit.

Who's been bumming whose mum?!
I guess Pope is getting weird with other people's mothers. His title I guess speaks for itself. The Catholic Church is fighting its image as a sex clinic for men, so Pope adds to the image. So Sad.
I take my name from Clement Pope, the goofy spy in The Eiger Sanction.
More like Ron Popeil, of Pocket Fisherman fame.

REI doesn't carry crampon compatible boots anymore.
Bullshit.
When buying new boots last month, I carried my crampons with me and tested them in the store. They wouldn't let me frontpoint up the wall, though.
