  1. perhaps part of the reason people have problems with these news folks is that they only show up here when someone is in trouble. I'm not sure if we will see comments from those two again until there is another incident (but they could prove me wrong right now, and I would be pleasantly surprised). I wouldn't really expect them to be around if they are not interested in climbing, but it does look a little vulture-like when they are only here for the tragedies.

    hard to say. maybe the outskirts near gresham but I think a blast to the south would not damage portland significantly. our water supply from bull run might be vulnerable. if all the ice on hood melted immediately, where would it go? I would guess hood, salmon and sandy river watersheds. rainier ice melt seems like much more of a threat to major metro areas, where they've found all those twisted stumps buried in the backyards of seattle's suburbia

  17. they should have been climbing last weekend but the north sister, being the fickle tramp she is, probably scared those little pansies straight over to the sunny tuff. hmm... avalanche-raked sufferfest in the couloir or over-bolted sunnyville...tough call

  20. my crampons were last seen on the living room coffeetable, about 10 feet from a huge pile of gear in various stages of dryness. Dining room table is currently a ski repair shop and kitchen floor is freshly waxed with all-conditions.
  21. I've heard all Duncan home clients get addicted to crack or hang out w/ flakes tex.
  22. you guys laugh at the french but I gotta say the quality of life over there is nice. lots of napping and eating good food and makin love. They know how to live better than americans, at least from what I experienced.
