I believe that there is no difference in the shape of the bar, only the length. A G-10 will only adjust out to a size 12 boot, while I was lead to believe that the G-12 would adjust to 12.5+. (like I said, my boys feet have grown)

Well gee wiz, why couldn't I have figured that out? I never thought to go to the website. I guess what my kids say is true. I can't find a store in Portland with the G-12 bar, only the -10, guess it's time to go direct.

My gear budget has been side tracked with child development cost. I'm lucky if I can afford tied together chunks of 3 strand poly rope and used glad bags for rain gear.

Here's one, my son has a pair of Grivel G-10's that his shoe size has now outgrown the max adjustment. Will the G-12 adjustment bar work in the G-10's? For as little as he climbs snow right now, I do not want to buy a new pair.

I have one of the older Avocet altimeters. Although this particular model had plenty of issues, my watch has always been very accurate (usually within 10') the only somewhat bogus function is the temp reading. If you wear it like a watch, it's gonna read your body temp, so I keep it cliped to my pack, but it still seems to read on the warm side.

Jabs, you bet, but I'm laughing at myself. I think the trip is WAY intense and extremely impressive, especially since I can barely tie my boots in 3:56:17.

What weekend in Nov. is everyone planning on hitting Smith? I remember hearing about a Eugene contingent and a possible Portland group heading down. Maybe a Oregon style rope-up could be had. I thought is was weekend of Nov. 9-10, is that right?

Damn, that's what I thought! I was hoping for the weekend of Nov.16-17. Wife and kids will be in Seattle, sorta a free weekend, low guilt kinda thing.

first stupid thing: watching a tv show about skydiving, promptly going out to the deck (2 stories high) tying a chair to my ass and jumping over the railing. second stupid thing: waking up thinking that was pretty cool and doing it again, only instead of knocking self out, end up with loose front teeth when face smashes into concrete block used as deck support and VERY bloody nose.
