  3. congrats. hope to make the portland event n' see what i've missed in that thare book - you bringing beckey w/ you as a fluffer?
  4. goods new (sorta) - i'm chagrined to admit i bitched to the rangers about stone soup being closed last month and it appears the park actually consented to move the closure barrier back - wow, sometimes they DO listen? jesus, this shakes the very foundation of so many of my core assumptions about authority, democracy, and the existence of the flying spaghetti monster so..... ...stone soup is currently the ONLY climbing to be had on beacon rock at the moment tape still across the trail at the parking lot, but apparently you're granted permission to cross it to the trench n' no further it goes to the top - best to rap w/ 2 60s or a single 70 - fun to top-rope the lower wall by either doing the first pitch of stone soup or scrambling up the mountie route on the far right side no better time than ever to grid-bolt the parking lot wall the rest of the north side should be open, frankly, most especially including siege tactics, but reckon that's the next thing to fight about... reckon i should be at least a little thankful

    faggoty book read'n

february: the hidden history of america at war: untold tales from yorktown to fallujah by kenneth c davis - meh, nothing too much that i hadn't learnt before, but a decent bit of pop history if nothing else - uses a clever device to anchor each section - if ya ain't read "savage wars of peace," the "water cure" chapter on the phillipines insurrection's pretty good the martian by andy wier - alright, every now n' then ya gotta slum'it w/ a little fiction - the movie was good, the book a bit better perhaps - can't imagine living on potatoes w/o a sauce of some sort for months on end - 300+ sols w/ no booze - the horror, the horror
