Good Call Alasdair..... Forrest service is just what it sounds like, a service, they try to raise money by issuing tickets with no athourity to colect on them... The Fish and Game dept. actually is run by warrdens who are certifyed law inforcement officers, how ever F&W can enforce FS laws if they catch you.... Not to mention Parking tickets given out by the FS get shiped the the county sheriffs dept. .... or at least in Oregon any ways... I got a ticket Parked at a trail head from the FS... and them after no doing any thing about it, got a letter from the county judge... called him up and explained the pass was on the dash and the FS didn't see it, All charges droped... but mostly all other tickets since then, have been non fined warnings, do they actually fine you any more????

don't know who long you guys are gonna be there or If you'll have spare time, but there is a place called Pioneir Town just south of JT... still in the JT National forrest... there is good climbing there too, but there is a great bar with great food there, called Pappy and Harriets... the town use to be and old western movie set so it looks like you just steped out of the 1800's... but the bar is packed and hopin' fri, sat, sun.... If there is a girl named kristina singing there tell her country jake say hi....

I want to know, or hear about your dislocations wile climbing... or jaming fingers.... what I really want to hear about is pain storys....
I once climbed a route, a crack mind you, using nothing but my thumbs for hand hold.... I would stick my thumb in the crack and dwedge it so hard that I could've hung from it.... anywho I probably only climbed the last 30 ft to the top like that, but by the time I got there I had to gride my thumbs back into position, so I could belay my body... needless to say my thumbs were swollen and useless the rest of the day...

I ran into so trouble on my adventure... Tryed to go climb Dog rock and phantum bridge, just NE of Detroit, OR..... but the F@#% Forrest Service hadn't cleared the road yet... I tryed to but there was just to many logs to cut, I only cleared about a couple hudered yards of road... sucks... Hey Erik, If you get into a position where there are just to many people a smith for ya, you should go check out the CR canyon just West of smith.... I'll give ya directions to a great climbing area if ya want them... in the 20+ times i've climbed their I have never seen anouther climber...

I think what my point was that if we did more of that, calling them up to say great job... then maybe the majority of people that use wilderness land would be more involved at trying to help with the problem areas.... I mean some one constently telling me that there is something wrong is discoraging.... makes me feal like whats the F@#%in' point... but I there were more posivitity out in the main stream of these topics then I wouldn't be so synical about it and be more apt to help out more... see were I'm comin' fromm?

What I want to know is why is there always something wrong.... I never here about the scientific studys where they say every thing looks great here... doin' a good job, way to go mother earth... why is it, there always has to be a change in the enviornment... And who say it needs to be changed... do we get to vote on a closer or what... or do enivormentalists who have a polotition in their pocket just get to decide because they think it should be so... I mean just because I think something is in a bad state, does not mean you do, or vice versa.... And if we do get to vote on closers, why isn't it more publicly campaned.... do the rest of you think that we should just sit back and let some tree hugers close down all our favorite spots, even though the majority of us do our best to keep it clean and nice for others (respectful climber and woodsmen)... Ok I'm a little excentric, but I'm serious too...

Hey Seattle is the closest pro team I have down in this valley, sure we have an amiture team or whatever they are but they suck... I'm all for the Marriners... take me out to the ball game... take me out to the park... feed me some foot long and lots of beer... for I may never want to come home.... ok thats not how it goes but it sounds good...
