  1. Lowell is that the NE arete in background I am assuming?
  2. Here's how the Taiga warranty works: "Hi, I bought this jacket here last week and I just noticed it has a tear in it." "No. You ripped it." "Why would I do that?" "I don't know but it wasn't ripped when you bought it." "So basically, you're doing nothing for me?" "It's your responsibility before you buy." "To make sure that you've done your job?" &c., &c., &c.

  5. Now keep in mind that these are preliminary schematics, but I think you'll agree that the design is breathtaking! Like all strokes of genius, this came to me in a gin soaked dream one night:

  7. Thanks Bob, now I'm feeling guilty for turning my last harness into a pancake of resin somewhere above Leavenworth in a satanic booze-fueled ritual fire sacrifice
  8. http://www.millenniumjet.com/ Ignore the fact that we've been dreaming of jetpacks for the last fifty odd years, there is tantilizing suggestion about right now that it is likely to happen in the next decade No it won't be affordable at first. But it will. And the notion of approaches will change forever -- for all the rich alpinists everywhere. Imagine: no more slogs into the Pickets, etc etc. I'm serious. This will rock! Way better thean the approach spider Spliffy's been working on. Or my bivy car idea, which is pretty much stalled in funding . . .

That's a nice article there Pete. I especially like the inflammatory, missive, tone: "The President will not . . . shall not . . . ALL WILL KNEEL TREMBLING BEFORE THE PRESIDENT." It's not that I take any issue with the pont of view, on the contrary, YOU'D BE A FHUHKIN MORON NOT TO SEE THAT ONE COMING. Here's why in an easy-to-follow schematic. Fell free to follow along at home kids:

The real issue here is what kind of backass route you took to Smith? WTF 97? Jesus. I-5 to Greshem, Division street Hood driveby stright into Mudrus Seven point Five hours from the Starbucks on 4th to Pyramid Ale on the picnic table "in the round" at Winston Smith
  13. MEC Thor is just about the best deal around on a -25F/-30C winter bag. Though a Dryloft shell does obviously impede water transfer . . . The best scenario and the one I have been using in winter is something like a 0F bag with a dryloft/synthetic overbag. It's a bit more cramped than a big bag, but things stay quite dry in the down.

    YESBUSHCAN

The funniest part of that site is at the bottom: "Yes Bush Can is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to re-electing George Bush and Dick Cheney."
  20. OK Mike, what's the deal? Your photos of Porq above make it look like a little crag surrounded by like 20' tall trees And the photos in the other thread about Porq, taken from Hardy, make it look a hell of a lot bigger and more alpine than your shots. You sure your photos aren't of a lower subsummit
