  1. Just removing the bodies would be quite a job.
  2. MSR is a Seattle company, so they should be able to pick them up from local retailers.
  3. Compared to the ID tent, installing the Bibler vestibule is a pain in the ass as well. All those little velcro thingies are hard to fix when my fingers are frozen and the wind is blowing. The ID vestibule just zips on. No gaps.
  4. That was already done at the Fall Rope-a-Dope.
  5. Microsoft. Most of their workforce are temps and non-US citizens.
  6. Been there, done that. Got blown off Shasta three years ago. One of my partners was picked up and thrown over a few boulders at Lake Helen. Not a cloud in the sky.
  7. Sat: Hiked up Bandera in time for the sun to come out at noon. The new Ira Spring trail is quite the hiking highway. Sun: Bucket of balls at the driving range, an hour at UW rock, and a round of golf at the Greenlake Golf Course.
  8. I was up there Memorial Day weekend. The trail to Snow Lakes was snow free, and about 50-50 above to the south face and west ridge. The routes looked snow-free.
  9. Bullshit. The stove alone may weigh 6.3 oz. but you have to have the pump for the bottle which is another 2.2 oz, for 8.5 oz. This doesn't include the windscreen, fuel bottle, or the bag. I have a simmerlite. I also have a postal scale. And a low tolerance for marketing hype.
  10. Why not? Larger propane tanks are commonly reused.
  11. 13 inches, yep, that's me. Oh wait, biceps?
  12. Marmot Chinook Super light and breathable. Great for bike commuting as well.
  13. Holy shit what a cluster!! People, if there are multiple parties waiting for this climb, try it one pitch with a 60. I'm pretty sure it'll make it. Last month I was able to rap from the second set of anchors (above the bulge) with a 60m, so I would think it would go as a single pitch.
  14. The North Face route on Concord Tower is 3p 5.6ish and starts next to Liberty Bell/Beckey. Fun route.
  15. Renton.
  16. So why do those pinhead newscopters fly 300 ft above my apartment?

  18. Zzzzzzz ... .
  19. I started WI climbing this past year with a pair of Grivel Alp Wings with the Easy-G leashes and G-12 crampons with strap-on (New Classic) bindings on stiff boots (Solomon SM Lites or Koflach Verticals). By the end of the season I was leading WI 3/4 and followed a few WI 5 pitches. I never felt that my selection of gear was holding me back. YMMV.
  20. I look at the altimeter for altitude and the watch for time.
  21. Ummm ... 4 day weekend Fri - Pulled on choss in the sunshine at Vantage. Sat - Hiked up Snow Lakes Trail to Lake Vivian Sun - Hiked up to Prusik Pass, looked at the West Ridge, & felt the sideways blowing snow. Brrr. Descended to camp and spent the afternoon in the tent with the gf. Sun - Hiked out for burgers at Gustav's.
  22. The Golites are still available, just look for them.

Gorditos is filling, but rather bland.
  24. Post a trip report describing ideal conditions and there will be a herd of cc.com'ers following your route.
